Gorgeous 1930s Coral Red Bias Cut Dress w Back Cut Outs & Matching Beaded Jacket

The three dresses I have for you today are more from that same single owner collection that I recently did two capsules from. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. The first two drops centered around the 1930s but we have expanded into her collection to add some other decades this time as well. Outstanding designs from these eras are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time. Most are in excellent condition and the few included that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them.

This is a stunning dress made of a beautiful coral red early satin rayon that is completely cut on the bias. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production and it is a jewel of a find. The dress has no closures, it just simply slips over the head and drapes into place. The silk molds to your curves as it drapes and skims down the body from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. It has that classic curved seaming seen during this time period and even the little snap closures at the side are set and hidden along the side seam. The front has a keyhole neckline ties into place with attached ties above that. This is topped by a wide rounded collar that is densely covered in little round seed beads. At the back there are these amazing cut outs on either side of a center panel for a unexpected flash of bare skin. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket with wide beaded sleeves that have the same dense application of seed beads onto them. There is a little hook at the neck and then long ties extend out from the waist to tie it in place. It is all gathered along the beck and bottom hem so poufs out at the back with a volume when on. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own or with the jacket. This one is an absolute beauty. Excellent overall condition with a small note below.

Unlined and slips on to wear and cut on the bias. There is a section that closes with snaps along the seam on one side. All the inner seams are finished by hand or pinked. I see a mark on the front skirt around the knee and there are several light marks and scuffs scattered here and there. There is very minor darkening under the arm seams. This particular fabric is known for this. Please see the last five photos here. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

Bust: 15-17.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12-14" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 18-22" flat across from side seam to side seam

Jacket
Its open cut should allow it to work on anyone the dress fits

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
