1960s George Halley Attributed Glitter Wrap Dress

I recently sold a two piece set by George Halley with the same treatment to the silk and from the same source that all the other Halley's I have in the shop were from. I am quite sure that this is also a Halley and my client pruchased it as such. It is an amazing gown. The silk has heavily applied glitter detailed that makes the curving "flame like" design you see here. The glitter used is fused directly to the silk and because they used different hues of glitter you get an amazing look over all. It is cut loose and easy and simply wraps and hooks into place. The skirt portion that wraps over the other has a pretty extra panel of silk that creates a great drape down the front. Best, it has that incredible hand beaded belt that picks up the flame design. Halley started at Charles James who said of the young designer that he "was a genius at draping". By the time he opened his own atelier in 1966 he was in full form and was a master cutter as well. His work is on par with couture and each piece is hand finished and has all the lovely high end details one looks for in proper couture. He is without doubt one of my favorites and I treasure each piece I can acquire. Excellent condition.
