Stunning 1990s Valentino Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Sheer Beaded Net Bodice

This is a gorgeous Valentino dress from the early to mid 1990s. It is beautifully made and a wonderful example of Valentino's main label and the work that he was doing during this time period. I love this one with its insanely low front plunge. It feels like a Valentino-fied version of the famous Bridget dress that Ossie Clark did with the way it is plunged at the front. It is a little sexier then some of his work tends so be but it still has that refined elegance that you would expect from him combined with a bit of pure drama created in that moment when you first see the dress on and that bare expanse of skin. 

The dress has that feeling of simplicity that the nineties epitomized and yet, still feels modern and fresh even now. There is also a bit of a historic feel to it with the way that the skirt is set under that beautifully beaded bodice. The skirt is made from an inner layer of a black silk that is cut to fall from the slightly high set waist to the floor. It widens out as it nears the floor and is still is in its original uncut length. Attached over the skirt are two layers of a black silk chiffon that are cut on the bias. They wrap around the skirt and end about 2 inches apart at the front. Where they end the line lines up perfectly with the plunge above it to create this beautiful long line. The bias cut of the silk and the soft floating feel of the chiffon draped over the inner silk skirting creates this beautiful movement when you move. Above that the bodice of the dress is fabulous. It is perfectly cut so that it plunges to the high set waist and is open all the way down. This leaves a bare expanse of skin showing and the effect is stunning. The bodice is made from two layers of black netting. Onto the  top layer has an intricate floral pattern that beaded over each breast and then fully across the back. The transparency with the netting behind it makes the bead work stand out even more and it is just fantastic. The sleeves are the same chiffon as the skirt's overlay and they are soft and  gathered so that they drape over the top of your arm. It is just stunning on the body. Excellent condition

The skirt is lined with a layer of silk chiffon and the bodice is made of two layers of the netting as described above. It closes with a hidden set side zipper. Tagged a vintage Valentino 6
