Insanely Good 1980s Giorgio Sant'Angelo Metallic Gold & Red Jersey Dress

Sant' Angelo was the winner of two Coty Awards and two Council of Fashion Designers of America honors and was known for his innovation and pioneering use of stretch fabrics. He has had an entire museum exhibit dedicated to his work and career and is firmly entrenched as one of the great designers. His work captured a moment in fashion history and his love of color and strong lines will forever be collectible. Pieces reside in museums worldwide including The Met. This one is actually better and has more impact even!

This is a stunning dress. It is entirely cut on the bias and is done with minimal seaming. These jersey dresses that Giorgio did were tremendously flattering to the body. It is also insanely sexy while still being extremely comfortable to wear. The fabric is a beautiful red silk jersey that moves and drapes beautifully. This one is especially interesting because he has mixed in that gold lame with the red. The front is made with a halter neck that curves down into that front plunge. The red on one side extends out into the body of the dress right to the floor. On the other side the bodice is made from a gold lame and I love how it extends up and around the neck to meet the red at the back. The side curve down low and meet at the back where he has continued with that play of the red and gold. There is a large bow at the back and half of it is the red jersey and the other half is the gold. This contrast between the two fabric is fantastic and adds a ton of impact to both sides of the dress. Above the bow the entire back is completely bare and exposed. The body of the dress is cut to skims over the body and the skirt flares out at it reaches the floor. It has a ton of movement when you move. It is spectacular. Excellent condition with a minor note below

Unlined and closes at the back with a zipper. The bow hooks into place over the zipper and along the back seam. There are some very faint areas of darkening on the front. I tried to take a photo and they barely show. It completely fine as is but I pointed it out for accuracy. Please see the shot after the label shot. The jersey does have some stretch
