Spectacular Vintage Oversized Kimono Coat Made From an Incredible Antique Floral Silk Brocade

This is one of those pieces that you can only find in vintage. It is so spectacular and it would certainly be the show piece of any collection. This one is impossible to date and I suspect that it was custom made back in the 1950s or 1960s from that amazing antique fabric. It is cut with a nod to a kimono in its shape and when it is off of the body and laid out flat you can see the nod to the T shape that it has. I love how the slleeves are cut to be so wide and the body so very full. This allows it to fit just about any body shape and it has this fantastic over-sized feel to it. Once on it drapes beautifully over the body to create the most interesting shape. Inside it is lined in a bright fresh spring green that gives you that fantastic pop of colour when you open it. On the exterior is that beautiful antique fabric. It is a deep black silk that is incredibly fine. Onto that is the beautiful flower pattern that you see. This has been hand embroidered over the surface of the silk and the colours are spectacular. Bright red roses are mixed with greenery, yellow vines and blue flowers. This covers the entire coat. To contrast the colours there is a braided trim done in an orange and black. The trim edges all of the edges and runs down the front. Then if all of that was not enough it closes with a tightly spaced row of matching knotted buttons and loops that run all the way from neck to hem. It is truly one of the best pieces I have ever seen. It has a substantial weight but feels balanced and easy to wear once on. Excellent antique condition with a note below to review

Fully lined in a spring green coloured cotton as shown and closes with the buttons down the front. The generous cut should fit just about anyone. There is some shattering to the silk near the seams underneath and near where it attaches into the body of the coat. It is stable and you would never see this when on. A couple of flowers here and there have some thread loss that is super minor.  Please see the final photos after the shots of the coat laid out flat.  I suspect that the fabric on the exterior is over 100 years old so in antique terms it is still in amazing condition.
