I Have a Question
This Valentino is very similar to the work he was doing for the 1977 season that was so beautifully captured by Deborah Turbeville for the Fall campaign. I have included several reference photos of the similar gowns from the Haute Couture season that year and you can see how this one would have evolved form those for the boutique line
The dress is made from a feather light silk crepe chiffon in his signature shade of red. The fabric choice allows for the sense of airiness that the dress has once it is on and that beautiful shape. The bodice is strapless and is kept very simple with a straight across cut and inner boning on the sides so it stays on place. Two rows of those silk ruffles run around it and they are set so that just a few inches at the waist is left to be seen. This gives you some shape through the waist and keep the dress from being one solid column of nothing but ruffles. The skirt falls to the floor from there, gradually widening out as it nears the hem. Here the ruffles take center stage and fully cover the skirt in horizontal rows that slightly overlap each other. These run fully down the length of the skirt from waist to hem. The lightness of the silk allows them to move with the slightest bit of movement on your part. The effect that this creates is wonderful. It is a beautiful and romantic dress and showcases the best of Valentino's work. Excellent condition with one minor note below
Fully lined in a red silk and closes with a back metal and nylon zipper. Light boning in the sides of the bodice. I see one very faint mark on one ruffle to the side of the waist at the front. Please review the photo after the label shot. Note the back will close completely on the right sized frame. It was just a touch small on my dress form.

I Have a Question
I am always on the look out for this style of dress by Halston. It is perhaps the most iconic of all of the Halston silhouettes and in 2016 a red version of this exact dress entered modern day fashion history when Kate Moss wore its twin on the red carpet at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. And just this year, Martha Hunt wore the exact twin of this same dress that she sourced from us to Cannes. She landed on several Best Dressed lists as a result. This was issued on a variety of colors and this one is a wonderful and quite rare ivory version. These were made in both a Petite cut version and a regular, longer cut version. This one is one of the Petite ones.
Halston was a master at this cut. There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended by one hook at the shoulder. It gives the sense that undoing that hook would cause the entire dress to drop in a puddle around you (which it would). It is constructed from two attached layers. The inner dress is cut from the same synthetic jersey and skims over the body in a long sheath. This inner part of the dress has a high slit cut into the side that travels up the side of the leg opposite to the draped side. Attached to that inner sheath lies a draped panel of jersey that is suspended from the shoulder. It falls from that shoulder down and over the front and the back of the dress. The dress hooks into place at the shoulder and the jersey cascades loosely down and over the inner layer for the ultimate Grecian goddess feel. This is a classic dress by Halston that is perfect for traveling as it is wash and wear and will travel exceedingly well with little to no wrinkling. It is very easy to style too - a quick change of shoe takes it day to night in a snap. Excellent condition.
Slips on to wear and has a hook at the top of the shoulder. These should fit a range of sizes since they are not cut to be super fitted and the jersey does have some stretch. It is a touch more creamy ivory in person.

These were issued on a variety of colors and this one is one of the more rare metallic gold lame ones.
Halston was a master at this cut. There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended from single shoulder. It gives the sense that the entire dress could drop in a puddle around you by slipping that off your shoulder (which it would). It is constructed from two attached layers. The inner dress is cut from the same nylon jersey and skims over the body in a long sheath. This inner part of the dress has a high slit cut into the side that travels up the side of the leg opposite to the draped side. Slips on to wear and has a hook at the top of the shoulder. These should fit a variety of sizes since they are not cut to be super fitted and the fabric does have some stretch. Note that this one is more for a petite frame so is cut a little shorter then some of the ones I have had in the past. The bonus from that is that its priced a little lower then the longer ones are. Note that there are some very teeny repairs near the bottom and some slight wear near the hook at the top of the shoulder. Please review the photos after the label shot.

I Have a Question
Bill Tice pieces are among my favorites and his one shoulder pieces are especially fabulous. The ones I have had in the shop prior to this have all been dated to 1981 from an advertisement that I sourced with none other then Jerry Hall wearing another version of his single shoulder dress. The one I have available here today is a little extra special because the way that it has been designed will allow you to wear it multiple ways.
Every girl that has bought a Bill Tice piece through me has loved it. His pieces are easy to wear and care for. His one shoulder dresses in particular are one of those fail safe pieces that you know is going to work every time you put it on. When I do get one in they tend to fly out the door. The dress is insanely sexy with an easy to wear caftan feel that is suspended from one single shoulder. I love the heavy silver metal ring that wraps around the single shoulder for detailing. This snake feeling metal loop is moveable and is part of what gives you the option to wear it different ways. The dress is made of a black liquid jersey that feels amazing on and has the added bonus of traveling very well. It is the kind of piece you can throw into your suit case and slip on with either flats or heels when you reach some far off destination and be instantly ready to go. It is made from two pieces that are attached to each other. There is an inner strapless dress with elastic around it for comfort. This elastic lets you be able to wear that part of the dress up and over the chest or around the waist as a skirt. Attached to that is the angled overlay and you can see from my photos that you can wear this on either shoulder with full coverage underneath, or with the inner piece set lower. You could even add a Tee or Bandeau under it. It can also be worn scooped and draped at the front so the back is left bare, or even more as a cape with the inner piece either pulled up as a dress or left low as a skirt. There are probably even more ways to style it then this even if you played around with it. A slit up one leg that shows when you walk or sit is the perfect finishing detail. So fun and such a versatile piece. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on. Metal wrapped detail at the top of the shoulder. The easy fit should allow it work on a variety of sizes.
Elastic on inner piece that can act as either the bust or waist: 13-20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 19-22" flat across from side seam to side seam
Inner piece length: 50" from elastic to hem
Total length: approx 63" from the single shoulder to hem of inner piece. Depending on where you wear the inner piece this will adjust
Slit: 22.5" from hem to top

This is the second time I have had this fantastic little dress in the shop and I suspect it will go as quickly as the first! He does not do a ton of color so when he does it is really special and this particular shade of blue is gorgeous. This amazing and very sexy little Alaia knit dress features a loose weave ribbed knit over a nude colored inner sheath. As with all Alaia pieces this dress is cut to hug every curve! The workmanship and the fabric is the best you can get and I love the saucy, flippy little skirt that finishes the dress with a girlie ruffle. It is a classic Alaia design, reissued in this color from an earlier design he made infamous in the nineties. The interior lining makes it appear that you are just wearing a thin layer of lace - insanely sexy and perfect for hot summer nights! Excellent condition. Item# DD889
This is a very rare, museum quality example of Gustave Tassell, who was one of the great American Couturiers. Example of his work are extremely hard to come by and most are only found in museum collections! For those not familiar with his work, Tassell won a Coty Award in 1962, was worn by Jacqueline Kennedy and designed for the house of Norell when Normal Norell died. This piece predates his work for Norell and is from the period between 1959-1972 when he was running his own couture house. Based on the lines and fabrication of this dress I suspect it is from one of his very first collections.
The dress itself is extraordinary. It has that wonderful "New Look" feel to it with its full skirts and beautiful fabric combination. He combines a fine silk taffeta with a French Chantilly lace that lies over a nude color on the bodice and a more gold tones silk for the skirts. This allows the fabric to become a design element in itself and showcases that beautiful lace. Once on the body the volume of the skirts is showcased and the lines become magical. I have styled it over a light crinoline so you can see just how full those skirts are. The skirt is just a masterpiece of construction with its mix of silk and lace panels. It is set into the waist with a series of soft pleats that really allow for fullness - you will get almost the same fullness that you see here even without a crinoline because of the way the fabric is set. The bodice sits above a cinched in waist and is cut to skim over the body. The neckline is set quite wide and is finished with a panel of lace that is folded and stitched to create its curves shape. It is a rare dress that is very beautiful and even beyond that, is a stunning example of a great American Couturier. Excellent condition
Fully lined through the bodice in a fine, high grade, hand set, nude silk chiffon and has an underskirt made of a gold silk taffeta. It closes with a back painted, hand set, metal zipper. Hand finished. Note that the waist looks to have been altered at some point and has a ribbon finish as photoed. I see small stitch marks above the ribbon in the fabric. You can easily wear it as is or use a belt. Priced accordingly

This coat is extraordinary. It dates to approx the 1962-63 Haute Couture collection and is impeccable. A similar coat is held in The Metropolitan Museum permanent archives (reference photo to the left). Cristobal Balenciaga was known for his fine tailoring and sculptural approach to design and the restrained and refined lines of this suit showcase that aesthetic. Even Dior himself declared Balenciaga as "the Master of us all" and Balenciaga's impact on fashion cannot be underestimated. He passed away in 1968 so any time I acquire a piece that pre-dates his death, I am especially thrilled.
The coat looks to have never been worn, or worn very little. It is numbered under the Balanciaga label and entirely made by hand and extremely well made as one would expect from a Haute Couture piece. Cristobal was known for doing the fitting himself, from the initial muslin stage through to the final fittings which means that a couture suit such as this one, made during the years he was alive and headed the house, means that you have a garment fitted by the master himself. It is cut with the volume and curves that defined the era and showcases the influence that Balenciaga had toward direction of line and cut. A neat small collar sits above the buttons that run down the front. The seams are cut gracefully on a curve and the lines of the coat are simple, yet extremely beautiful. The subtlety of the seams is fabulous in person. It utilizes the very minimal of seaming in its design with dropped curving shoulders and arms and a slim cut through the body - a subtle play on his iconic "cocoon" shaping he was known for. Front pockets sit on each hip at the front. The fabric is a dense heavy weight cashmere or cashmere mix and the lining a black silk. It feels insanely modern still some 50 odd years later! Excellent condition
Lined in hand set black silk taffeta. It buttons to close and has pockets on each hips. Numbered tape under the label "102151" Each pocket is lined in silk as well. There is a small area of surface nips on the back (photoed). The coat has been professionally cleaned and temperature treated to Museum Standards.

This set was a bit of a mystery as when hunting for information we found what looks to be the twin of this dress in pink from the 1969 Pierre Cardin collection. This dress has no Cardin tags but does have what I think are the label of a high end shop in Vienna. I think this is indeed a Cardin design that was licensed to the shop to produce for their clients. This was done at the time to avoid customs and importing taxes for clients and it is the best possible explanation as the design is just too similar and the quality to high to be anything else but. Regardless, the set is amazing and I personally like it in the chocolate even more as it sets off and contrasts with the copper and gold beading perfectly. The inner dress is a long, sleek sleeveless sheath with a high collar. Over this sits is a full length vest that closes at the neck only and has little cap sleeves and high vents running up each side. This allows the fantastic design that runs down the front like jewels to peek through perfectly. The huge diamond shaped medallions that run down the front are made with a mix of densely spaced beads, copper sequins and huge prong set rhinestone crystals. Its like wearing an elaborate jeweled bib and is extraordinary. The set is fantastic together or you can wear the pieces separately. Very well made. Excellent condition.
Both pieces are fully lined in a brown silky rayon with hand finishes. The dress closes at the back with a hidden set nylon and metal zipper. The vest closes at the front neck with hook & eye. I see no areas of missing beads

I have had the twin of this dress in the shop ages ago and was so pleased to have another become available. This is one of my favorite designs from Mr Beene and feels as fresh and wearable now as when it was first deigned. The Geoffrey Beene Boutique label was launched in 1972 and I believe this to be from early on in that launch as you can clearly see the sixties influence in the design. The bodice is cut to skin over the bust with long, slim sleeves and a high neckline. The skirt twirls out from the waist and is amazingly full - it reminds me of a version of the skater skirt, or a 1950s circle skirt, and this fullness really allows it to move and swirl. The waist nips in above that full skirt for shape and balance. The fabric is a woven polished silk and has enough weight to help hold the shape and structure of the dress but is comfortable to wear. It closes with a zipper that runs down the front so that you could wear the neckline open if you wish. Excellent condition.
Interlined in a black silk and closes at the front with a painted metal and nylon zipper. Pockets are hidden along seam inset at the front from the hips

This fabulous 1972 ultrasuede sleeveless dress is done in a beautiful pale cream that has just the barest hint of yellow to it. These were the thing to own in the 1970's - no one had ever seen this fabric before and they were all the rage. Similar examples are held in The Met's permanent collection. In the notes of similar pieces there they state: "Wrapping, tying, and folding were all habits of mind for Halston. In this Ultrasuede shirtwaist, perhaps his greatest dressmaking success, he offered a versatile sportswear icon in a new material, allowing for countless individual expressions through personal styling."
I love the that this one has such sleek lines and is so seventies in feel and yet still feels so very modern. Examples of these can get stiff as they age but this one is still soft and supple. It is a simple cut with a front zipper and no sleeves. The bodice skims to the waist and then the skirt flares out to the hem. All the shape is created by vertical seaming. It has its original belt which allows you to cinch it in for shape. That zip front sits below a squared off neckline and you can unzip it a bit if you wish. Hidden pockets along the front seams allow for the perfect cool girl slouch. I have included here the photo from 1972 of Halston surrounded by models in variations of this collection and the photo of the dress held at The Met. Excellent condition.

The Museum at FIT holds the black version of this 1973 dress and while you can never go wrong with a black dress I think this copper twin of that one pops just a little more. Like all Halston pieces the design is as simple as he could possibly get away with. It falls form the neck in a clinging, sexy column of lurex knit that hugs the body but in a way that moves with the body and skims where it needs. The neckline is cut quite low and you can control how far it plunges at the front by how high you pull it back and tie it. The back is the same with a bare expanse of skin that will sit higher or lower depending on where you tie the neck. The fabric glints and gleams in a subtle way and it is almost like wearing a sheath of metal as far as the color but the knit keeps it insanely comfortable and easy top wear - basically that perfect Halston mix of ease and impact. Excellent condition.
Unlined and slip on and ties the back neck. The knit has stretch so will fit a wider range of sizes. The measurements below are of the range of an easy stretch while lying flat.

I Have a Question
I had a very similar dress in the shop before that was a lilac color and am very pleased to have found an even more versatile black version. Halston is one of those rare labels that for whom the more time goes by it actually feels more relevant. It is easy to look at this piece as both a treasured vintage collectible and a closet staple.
It is the kind of dress that you know that every time you slip it on you will look and feel amazing. It has a definitive Grecian goddess feel to it combined with his signature simplicity and masterful draping. It simply slips over the head with elastic running through the waist at the front. At the back the inner part is completely bare but there are ties that extend on either side of the waist that tie inside the back. This helps to create some shape at the front with the fabric draping all around you, but the ties keep it completely in place. The front drapes and plunges deeply but the way the fabric has been placed combined with that elastic waist and the inner ties make you feel safe wearing it. Over the shoulders and down the back is a single panel of fabric that creates a caped Grecian effect and incredible loops of draping down each hip. They are deep enough to tease that you might get a glimpse of bare skin at the sides but the cut and the inner ties make sure it doesn't bare too much. So sexy! The front high slit and way the skirting is cut also allows a flash of leg to show as one moves. Brilliantly Halston in every way and very easy to wear. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on with elastic through the front part of the waist. Attached nylon jersey ties on either side of where the front waist ends that tie at the back inside as photoed. Tagged a S but the fabric has some stretch and that combined with the drape, elastic waist and adjustable tie waist will allow almost any size

Amazing and very rare set from the Rive gauche Fall-Winter 1979 collection. Yves inspiration for this collection was Pablo Picasso and the Harlequin print was used in in both the Haute Couture collection and the ready to wear. This is a very rare and pristine example from that collection. The colors are amazing! Who else but Yves could mix pink and green and purple and make you wonder why you do not wear them together every day? The boxes of color are separated and then gold lame thread worked into the silk to form dots that run over the entire ensemble. These glimmer in the light and add an extra layer of texture. The print would have been customs screened specifically for this collection and the silk is the finest, lightest silk chiffon you can find. The entire set has volume and substance, yet weighs but a few ounces. Flat pleat work circle the hips and allow the maximum amount of fabric through the rest of the skirt. The top is bloused and loose with voluminous sleeves. The attached tie sits just off side and adds that perfect romantic, feminine touch. It is a masterpiece and in unworn, excellent, museum quality condition. Item# DD826
Tom Ford knows how to accentuate the body and his days at Gucci were no exemption. This is the perfect little black sweater that you will reach for over and over as your perfect basic, yet sexy little black top. It is made from a tightly woven knit that has a touch of elastic in it that gives it a "bandage" feel. This type of knit also give you some support if you choose to go bare underneath. Designed with a high, scooped neck and simple cut that clings to the body like a second skin. On each side it has gathers that give it a sift draped effect across the midriff and that perfect nineties feel. A keyhole back shows a little extra skin. Excellent condition.

I Have a Question
This wonderful dress is from the 2003-2004 era and displays the hyper feminine, nod the the thirties and forties that was running through some of his work during this time period. It is made of feather light silk chiffon that is cut to float around the body. This is contrasted with the extreme molded breast cups. These are almost rigid and shaped to give you perfectly rounded breasts. The sit independently and are further highlighted with the covering of the silk chiffon and the way it is set in a provocative ruffle along the upper edge. Under this the chiffon is cut and shaped by seaming. It is a play on the way thirties dress were made but here he takes the curving seams tot he extreme and almost build shapes using them. The hem line is asymmetrical and hangs at different lengths. The dress is suspended by tiny little straps that curve around the neck and then twist and buttons into place while crossing over them selves. These ,eave the skin of the back bare. The second you move the skirts waft around you and the curves of the body are shown underneath. It is very sensual and very beautiful. I love the cherry print that covers the silk. Literally the 'cherry on top'. Excellent condition.
Fully lined on a very fine white bias cut silk. It slip on to wear and the ties button onto place. there is one more that runs across the lower back but it would not button into place on my dress form. The ties are twisted together on spots and this is deliberate. The breast cups are molded. Tagged vintage McQueen 40. Bias cut so may come up in length a bit depending on your frame.

I Have a Question
I am so excited to bring you the second part of our 1930s capsule. This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. Outstanding designs from this era are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time. Most are in excellent condition and the few included in the capsule that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have more of these capsules for you in the future.
This is one of those absolutely beautiful silky rayon dresses that you can only find from this time period. It is in fantastic shape and is gorgeous to see in person. The top portion of the dress is made from a beautiful scarf weight silky rayon that tops a black silk crepe skirt. It has a classic late 1930s cut through the top with a more loose fitting bodice and softly draped sleeves. The neck dips into a V at the front and there is a notched soft collar that runs around that. The top is cut to skim over the bust and then narrows into the waist where a band of the black crepe gives shape. The skirt falls to below the knee and has a wonderful flare to it. It is quite wide as it swoops out and nears the hem and this gives it a lovely movement once on the body. The sleeves are long and pouf out above their cuffs. Rounded padding sits at the edge of each shoulder to give it a bit of a cap. The top is so pretty with its bright printed floral pattern that combine pinks, greens and purples. The fabric is cut on the bias and this gives the skirt beautiful movement once it is on. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a side painted metal zipper. Each cuff closes with a hidden set of snaps. Light padding at the edge of each shoulder.

From the Cruise collection for 2008 comes this gorgeous little silk dress in a beautiful shade of ocean blue. This was look 10 and was shown on Chanel Iman for the runway. Galliano played with the one shoulder silhouette in this collection and also highlighted this large over-sized paisley design that adorns the silk throughout the collection. You often see a nod to the fifties and sixties in his work for Dior during this time period and never more so here with this silhouette. It is so easy to wear and has a delightful retro and feminine feel to it. The silk chiffon is as light as a feather. It drapes up and over one shoulder with a wide band of silk and pretty soft gathers at the top of the shoulder. The waist cinches softly in and you can define with further with the original belt that has a pearl and crystal buckle. The skirt is stunning and seems to float around you, moving with your slightest movement. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a high quality blue silk. It closes with a hidden set, side zipper. Tagged a US 6. It is cut on the bias so there is some play with the measurements

This sweater is fabulous and it is a wonderful example of the knitwear that was coming out of countries like Germany for the tourist market from the 50s to the 70s. It is completely hand made and I love the floral design that is worked through the knit down the front and curving around the back. It also trails down each sleeve with heavy braided borders surrounding the floral design. The knit through the body is nubby and both the flowers and braiding are raised so has an extra dimension to it. The sleeves narrow as they reach the wrist and I love the cap on each shoulder. Little wood buttons are the perfect arts and crafts finish. Knits like this are showing extremely strong on the Prada, Miu Miu and Gucci runways this season and finding an original that can easily stand up to any of the newer pieces is a find. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes at the front with wood buttons. The knit does have some stretch so will fit a variety of sizes.

I know I don't normally carry men's items but this little vest was so chic that I could not resist it. Plus it was dated to the day 4-2-20 and that just made it that much more special. It is a beautiful example of menswear and it can easily be gender free with its simple but striking cut. The front is curved down at the front with a sleek, tacked down collar that follows that curve. Silver metal buttons close it at the front and there are two little pockets on either side. The back is a black silk and the interior an ivory silk. It has some patina but is sound and still very smart.
Fully lined in a striped ivory silk and buttons to close. I suspect the buttons have been replaced at some point. There are some marks on the inside from improper storage and some vert slight areas of thinning to the back silk. Overall its amazing and for its age in tremendous condition for something just under 100 years old
Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. I Have a Question
I love when I get versions of this dress in the shop and have had one of these ivory cream one before and love it just as much this time around. These were made in the 1980-1981 time period and I have included two ads from those years that show similar versions with the same gold belt at the waist. Versions of these Bill Tice pieces have been worn by countless celebrities for the red carpet and events. Lady Gaga wore a version, as have girls like Rachel Zoe & Nicole Richie and every girl that has bought one through me has absolutely loved it.
This is one of those dresses that is a fail-safe piece that you know is going to work every time you put it on. It is also insanely sexy with that front cut to plunges almost to the waist. But even with that deep front it feels pretty secure once it is on the body because of how it is cut and the way it ties at the waist. The ability to cinch and tie it allows you to control how deep the plunge sits once it's on. It is made of a liquid, slinky jersey that feels amazing on. This fabric has the added bonus of traveling very well. It is the kind of piece you can throw into your suit case and slip on upon arrival with either flats or heels and you are instantly ready to walk out the door. There is a high slit at one side that shows when you walk or sit and I love the belt. This is a Tice signature. It is attached and covered with a gold lurex on the topmost side. It is cut wide and then top stitched. This adds an instant dose of high glamour and also allows you to cinch in the shape as much as you want. Excellent condition.
Unlined and slips over the head to wear. It has elastic through the front part of the waist and ties with the attached gold belt. Very very light padding in the shoulders. The easy fit and elastic waist should allow it to work on a variety of sizes.

Documented Fall 1984 Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Runway Haute Couture Black Textured Velvet Dress
I Have a Question
This is an incredible dress from the Fall 1984 season from when Marc Bohan was the head of the Dior atelier. It is a beautiful example of the work being produced by Christian Dior in this time period. In the book Dior; Catwalk, the notes on the fall collection state that the collection was placed 'under the sign of opposites' and that he had looked to the work of Abstract Expressionist painter Jackson Pollock for inspiration. Pieces were adorned in drip embroidery and motifs and then he did a series of long sheath dresses that were 'accessorized with 'Pollock jewels" in jet and multi colour stones'. We found several photos of the twin of this dress on the runway which shows you how fabulous it is on the body. The dress is a true Haute Couture piece and has the appropriate numbered label intact. It is gorgeous.
The dress is made out of a soft textured silk velvet in a jet black. Using a velvet that has this added texture to it is an incredible choice as the dress catches the light in different ways as you move and it really makes it come to life. The cut is simple and sleek with a low front neckline that dips from an angle created over each shoulder. It slightly curves down to the center and then the fabric is softly gathered down the center to the waist. This leaves it with a slightly bloused over feel over the the nipped in waist. The sleeves are cut long and they slim down as they reach the wrists. There is a slight volume built in at the outer part of each shoulder. On the inside I see hand made silk cases that at one time had light padding in them but the padding has been removed at some point to give it a softer shape. You could easily have some padding put back in if you wanted a stronger shoulder. Inside the bodice is a more fitted and boned inner silk corseted piece that holds you in place while the silk velvet simply drapes softly over that outside. The skirt is cut to feel sleek and simple and falls to the floor with just a touch of gentle widening as it reaches the hem. A vent runs up the back so that you can walk. It is a beautiful and dramatic piece despite its simple lines. It is meant to be slightly more voluminous through the top and then slimmer through the skirt as was the fashion at the time. Excellent condition with a very minor note below.
Fully interlined in a fine black silk satin and then has a built in bodice made of black silk. The inner bodice is boned and closes with its own zipper as photoed. The exterior dress closes with a back painted metal zipper. Each sleeve has a zipper at the cuff. The ribbon belt is not original to the dress and is just a length of grosgrain ribbon for shape. Appropriate numbered tag present with couture number 19469. Silk hand made pads that have no padding inside each shoulder as described above. Slight damage to the silk on either side of the zipper on the inner corset and there is a repair at the top of the vent. Please see the photos after the label shot.

A soft palette of lavender and pale blues make up the signature print on this wonderful early, silk twill scarf by Emilio Pucci. It is instantly recognizable as being Pucci and perhaps one of the more unusual and rare color combinations and prints. The colors are still vibrant & true and because of the print and signatures throughout, it is instantly recognizable.
Appears to have never been used or used very little with just a touch of patina. Hand-rolled, plump edges.

I Have a Question
Tina Leser became known for her use of fabrics and designs that were inspired by non-Western ideals. She traveled the world and her love for all of the places that she went shone through her designs. The label on this set was the one used from roughly 1953 to 1966 and I suspect this piece was designed around the turn of 1960. During that time period she was known for these top and pant sets. From my understanding these were sold separately so her clients could mix and match. She was greatly inspired by her travels and the exotic feel of the far east shows through in this design that we have here.
More then anything I love the extreme width of the pants in this set. At first glance you would think that it is a full length skirt. It is not until you start to move that anyone will realize that it is actually extra wide pants. Both the pants and the top are light in weight. I know it looks like it should not be with that intricate pattern making it appear like it is a brocade or something along that line, but the fabric is actually a beautiful, light silk twill that is then backed in another layer of silk. The pattern is fantastic. The intricate design covers ever square inch and you can see how the top and pant have a matching design where they meet. It did not fit my dress form exactly and the pattern will line up even more on a person wearing it in the correct size. The top zips up the back and the front has a high neckline above a row of working buttons that runs down the front. The sleeves are long and finished in a buttoned cuff. I love how the width you see in the pants is created by a series of sharp pleats that are closed and sewn for a form fitting waist and hip, and then open to give all that volume you see in the legs. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition.
Both pieces are fully lined in an orange silk except for the sleeve of the top that are unlined. The top closes at the back with a painted metal zipper. The pants zip and hook to close. Each cuff buttons with a silk covered button and loop and the same type of buttons run down the front.

I Have a Question
Geoffrey Beene is one of the great American designers and I actively look for his work, especially the earlier pieces from his Geoffrey Beene Boutique days. The Boutique label was introduced in 1967 as an high end ready to wear label that was an alternative to his couture pieces that he had been producing since his self-named label launched in 1963. It was replaced in 1974 by the Beene Bag label, a more affordable RTW line.
This dress is wonderful and you cannot help but think of the holidays when you see its bright red, green and blue plaid. The fabric is a fine silk taffeta and that choice of fabric helps to give it the wonderful full skirt shape that you see. There are no crinolines under the skirt. The volume you see is achieved by the fabric alone and the way that it is set into the waist. I have put it on the mannequin with the buttons and zipper at the back. I have seen a version of this dress styled the other way around and I think that you could wear it either way depending on how it sits best on you. The way I have done it leaves the front with a more simple and sleek feel and the back feels more elaborate and detailed. The neck is high with a black silk ribbon that you can tie as you wish. A panel of the plaid silk sits almost like a cape over the shoulders. Under that are slim cut sleeves and the waist nips in with another long black silk ribbon to accent it and pick up on the tie at the neck. The skirt billows out under that and widens as it falls to the floor. It has a wonderfully formal feel to it with its austere cut, but this is perfectly balance by the festive feel of the silk. Excellent condition with a couple of minor notes to review below.
Fully interlined with a black silk netting through the bodice and skirt. It closes with a combination of a painted metal zipper below the waistline and hidden set snaps under the glossy black buttons above the waist to the neck. Note that the zipper sticks part way down. I have photoed how low it goes. It won't budge past that point but is otherwise fine. There is one tiny nick on the skirt and there is a nick out to he silk at the neck on the side. Both are minor and stable. Please review all three provided photos after the label shot.

I Have a Question
During John Galliano's years at the house of Christian Dior he arguably produced some of the most amazing bias cut gowns in the houses history. His work, especially the bias cut pieces that he did, have a feeling of the decadence and abandonment of the twenties and they are beautifully cut. They marry Old Hollywood with the minimalist spirit of the nineties and early 2000s and the results are stunning. This dress is made from a deep red silk satin that is cut completely on the bias. It is very beautiful. The bias cut allows it to skim and drape over the body so that is shows every curve but is not tight at all. The neckline has a deep plunge at the front and the back. It follows the curves of the body under that and flares out after the hips. The skirt is remarkable and cut to hang in long points on either side while it draws upwards at the middle. This, combined with the bias fabric, allows the dress to move around you to create a beautiful sense of movement. A tightly spaced row of buttons runs down the side of the dress - a signature of his and this adds to the sense of antiquity to the gown. It is stunning on. Excellent condition
Unlined and cut on the bias. It is made form a silk satin. It slips on to wear and closes with the series of buttons and fabric loops that run down the side. The bias cut will allow for a variety of sizes to wear the dress. Note the length does come up when on depending on the size of the girl underneath since it is cut on the bias.

The navy and off-white stripe Breton has become not only a French signature piece but one that Jean Paul Gaultier has embraced and made one of the house signatures. This is such a classic piece and looks to have never been worn. Made of a light weight knit that has a bit of a "slinky" feel to it. It is an easy to wear, instant and forever classic piece that you will probably wear endlessly. And very very French in feel. Excellent condition

What a stunningly beautiful piece of craftsmanship. This early Edwardian period top weighs mere ounces and is all hand done. The base is a silk tulle netting upon with applique lace is hand applied. The lace is also hand made. It reminds me of some of the pieces that designers like Valentino are showing this season and is almost mind boggling when you realize this is 100 years old! The amount f work to construct this simple piece alone would have added to the tens and tens of hours. I actually have it on backwards - the keyhole would have gone at the back but it is so well made and proportioned that you can indeed wear it to either side. A piece to be revered and treated like the treasure it is!! Excellent condition and a show stopping piece!

The coat is fully lined in striped cotton, almost canvas like fabric and it deteriorating as pictured. The coat is sold as found and the interior does show the accumulation of the years. The exterior velvet has spots where it has rubbed off and the base fabric shows through - this actually adds to the beauty of the coat I think. One of the wood accents on the belt is long gone. The edging inside each sleeve is present but just band of horizontal threading. It closes with metal buttons with interesting over sized looped backs. It has a good weight to it but is not too unwieldy to wear. Hand finishes. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect! It is after all over 100 years old!

Amazing arts and crafts Edwardian hat. It is extra special because it appears completely unworn so is the equivalent of having come through a time machine!† It is stunning. Hand stitched with a wire rim and lots of detail work. The pattern is stitched on by hand with yarn and silk ribbon. The base is very unusual and I believe it to be a raffia and silk mix!The colors are dreamy and romantic. Underneath the brim is lined in a ribbed silk grosgrain fabric and the interior has striped silk. The maker - Curtis New York - is embroidered into the interior crown! Excellent condition!
This is a beautiful, early silk coat. I am guessing turn of the century though this is a touch outside my area of expertise so feedback is always welcome! What I do know is that is is stunning and still extremely wearable and shockingly modern still. The exterior is a luxurious black, weighty silk matte satin. It ties at the neck under a fine short pelted fur collar that has a moleskin or chinchilla feel to it. The cut is very simple except for the stunning 3D cord work and stitching detail. This runs down each sleeve and the cord work forms scrolls and filigree. Each bottom sleeve has a puffed inset of perfect tiny flat pleats - amazing. These older pieces always seem to have hidden work done for the sake of the doing it properly rather for show and this is no exception. The good 4 inch scroll work design runs down the inside of each front panel - only really showing when the tie is down up at the neck and the edges then flip out! It has a soft wool lining between the exterior and the inner silk lining so it is surprisingly warm despite its lightness. This would have been a very finely made piece in its time! Excellent condition though please do read the notes concerning the lining below.
This gown is just extraordinary. Fine hand work throughout and an absolute wonderful example of the craft that went into day wear. There are four or five different embroidery techniques employed in this piece as well as crochet work and different grades of netting. I love the heavy embroidery used down each sleeve and in panels down the bodice and skirt. Huge open cut work panels of edged linen work their way through the design. Crochet covered ball buttons add detail to the bodice and sit in a double row down each side of the skirt. Elbow length sleeves a high neck and a nod to detailing at the waist while following the fashion of a tubular shape. It is in extraordinary condition and a the photos speak for themselves when it comes to the details found in this dress. If you love the photos the dress in person is even better! Museum quality condition!
Note that is is NOT white - it is a true linen color cream or off-white

Lined in extremely fine tissue silk through the bodice, with netting backing the sleeves. The skirt is left unlined. It closes with a series of metal hooks down the back. Remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note other then natural patina. There is the slightest of deepening of the color on the crochet buttons. For a piece that is approx 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition. Very fine work and very light weight to wear yet feels like a piece that has substance to it at the same time.

My photos do nothing to convey how special this dress is. It looks so shockingly modern and fresh that it will literally blow you over when you see it in person and realize this date to somewhere in the very very early twenties or late teens! The workmanship is extraordinary - it really and truly is a couture level piece and I would not be surprised to learn that some aficionado spots it for what it really is and it turns out to be a rare Chanel or Lavin or something on that level. The sequin work is amazing and the design has an almost tiger stripe feel to it in the way the sleeves and sides are partially striped. All those sequins have been applied in tight rows and form a beautiful contrast to the silk netting. The elongated triangles run across each sleeve and down each side where they eventually meet and circle the hem of the skirt. The bodice has a sequin overlay that is weighted to hang perfectly. Truly amazing - if you love it in the pictures you will be extraordinarily happy when it arrives. It is strong and would be wearable with care though truly this is also a piece meant fot a collectors and should be considers a true work of art.
A absolute beautiful early textile that is in excellent condition. This is a darling little sequin capelet in netting with a pretty ruffle detail at the neck. It has n closures - it just sits on the shoulders. You could easily add a brooch or even a hook and eye if you wished. The pattern is stunningly beautiful - glossy black sequins hand sewn in a floral design. The edges are scalloped and edged with more sequins. There is minow sequin loss as to be expected with a piece of this age. It weighs ounces and is utterly beautiful and all original!
I Have a Question
I am very excited to bring you our latest mini capsule collection. This is one of nine dresses from a single owner collection. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. For this capsule we have moved forward to the 1940s and 1950s. Really good examples from this era are becoming increasingly hard to find and these are all gorgeous little examples of that time period. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have more of these capsules for you in the future.
This stunning little dress is from the Jobere label out of New York and it is made from a deep blue silk mixed with silk chiffon and a pretty corded lace. It is beautifully made with detailing that runs around the upper portion of the bodice. It is cut wide across the shoulders so that it sits just on the outer edge of each shoulder. This leaves a bare expanse of skin across the neck and at the back it dips slightly lower. The bodice skims over you and then it nips in at waist with the shape there created by vertical seaming. The waist is detailed with panels of silk chiffon for a pretty softness. The skirt falls from under that and widens out as it nears the hem. I love the wide panel of silk that runs all the way around the hem and ends in a flat bow on one side. This wide ribbon finish at the bottom serves a dual purpose of not only adding detail but it also gives the hem extra structure so that the dress retains its shape once on. At the very top of the bodice there is a wide nude colored added panel that covered with a deep blue cord lace. This adds the prettiest most romantic detail. It’s a lovely little dress. Overall great condition but it does have some small issues to review below.
The dress is fully lined in a copper coloured silky rayon and it closes with a back zipper. The lace hand applied. There is some separation to the lace throughout. It could be worm as is or the lace removed or replaced if you wished. There is also fraying at the very edges of the skirt here and there. Please see the photos after the label shot.

Rarely do I take in pieces from this time period anymore as exceptional pieces are few and far between but this one is wonderful and I could not resist. It is also shocking in that it is a wearable sizing, another rare occurrence. This elaborate and wonderful top is in outstanding condition and is truly a marvel. Everything about it is exquisite. It is cut with a graceful sweep inwards as it nears the hem. It has wonderful and elaborate sleeves that have a dramatic pouf at the top of the shoulder and end in a full 11 inch, curved cut cuff that is finished in a fine, flat ruffle treatment interspersed with a rows of hand done embroidered cutouts on silk. It is pleated through the back and these angle in and toward the slightly raised waistline. The front It is all finished with the same technique used on the cuffs and form a sweeping panel across the shoulders that tapers down in a point towards the waist. It is remarkable and in excellent, museum quality condition.
Fully lined in a fine black silk. It closes with a series of hook & eye to close on the inner corset and then again on the outer layer of the blouse. Fully boned with steel boning. Wear on the top of one portion of the boning and that one piece shows through. The hand work is evident throughout and this is a remarkable, fine early antique pieces.
Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated wil love and care. Please purchase accordingly.

This jacket is just utterly fantastic! The exterior is a fine black velvet that is cut almost box like with a slight widening as it near the hem. Each sleeve is cut with a slight curve and is cropped. Adorning the fabric are elaborate panels of lace and cord lace that is done in a glorious design that follows the vertical rows that highlight the cut of the jacket. The work in each of those row of lace and silk florettes is mind boggling! The interior is lined with a fine cream silk brocade that picks up the floral feel of the exterior lace in its design. I see just the beginnings of shattering along the edges of the lining and under one arm but at this point it is still very stable and should be left and conserved as is. A really special piece that is shockingly wearable despite the fact that it is well over 100 years old! Excellent, museum quality condition.
Fully lined in a fine cream silk brocade and has a hidden set row of hook & eye down the front to close. There is some shattering near the edges of the lining at the front, under one arm and along the neck. These are all very minor - please supersize the photos of the jackets interior to see. It is still sound and wearable as is and since I believe it is the original lining I chose to leave it as is and priced it accordingly. Hand set lining. It is a true deep black - some photos were lightened to show detail.

I Have a Question
This dress is very beautiful and it is so rare to find such a fine example of the work that was being done in this time period. It really is one of the most phenomenal dresses I have ever had and the workmanship is exquisite.
It is constructed from yards and yards of pink woven silk that has an almost iridescent finish to it. There is also a gorgeous floral pattern woven through the silk that is just breathtaking. It is wonderful example of the high end fabrics that was being produced during this period. The dress has no identifying label but the care and meticulous construction tell me that it is definitely a high end piece. There are lots of couture level finishes on this one. The cut is pure Old Hollywood. The bodice is gathered all the way down the center front to the waist. Above that, it is flat pleated into a deep V and it then extends into wide straps that curve up and over the shoulders. The straps thin out as they run down the back. I love how at the back they are set on a slight inwards angle rather then just being set in a straight line down from the shoulder. The dress cinches in at the waist and this tops an expansive, full skirt that is made from yards and yards of the pink silk. The fabric gathers slightly down the front in soft curves, extending the line coming down the middle of the bodice, and the hips pouf out tremendously. The volume through the skirt is achieved both by the stiffened netted crinoline underskirt that comes with it and by the squaring off of the fabric across the top of the hips. I photoed one shot of the skirt with the draped part pulled outwards for you to see how this was done. On the interior corner of that squared off bit, there is a little weight that is encased in fabric. Once on, the squared off part of the skirt drops back inwards on itself and the weight inside is just enough to hold the shape of the skirt so that you get those wonderful side drapes, but the weights are not heavy enough to take away the volume. Incredible. Everything about this dress is beautiful. The interior is interlined with a black silk organza and there are hand done finishes throughout. This is a testament to gowns made in this time period. Excellent condition
Interlined in a black silk organza. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. Hand work throughout. Weights in the interior of the skirt as described above. The netted crinoline underskirt is separate from the dress and will be shipped with the dress. It closes with hook & eye at the waist and it’s net fabric is stiffened slightly for shape.

I Have a Question
I am very pleased to begin presenting a collection of Bill Blass pieces from a woman who was a close personal friend of Mr. Blass for many years. Many of these pieces were custom made or tweaked specifically for her and all of them are in exquisite condition, having been stored and cared for properly over the years. These are rare and hard to find example of his work from the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Some may be the only version of its kind that were made. The family would also like it to be known that their portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to charity.
I absolutely love this dress. It is an amazing example of the work that Mr. Blass was doing in the late 1970s, early eighties time period. It is an amazing find with its sleek lines and those wonderful over-sized pockets that sit on each hip. It still feels shockingly modern in a very minimalist kind of way. It is made from a remarkable, baby soft, plush black cashmere that feels like heaven to the touch. This fabric choice has enough of a weight to it that it holds the shape wonderfully and feels so very high end once on the body. I love the squared off bust-line and skinny straps in a matching fabric. I think that if you wished you could even wear this one strapless and it would work amazingly. The front has two big pocket for that classic American ease his clothing has. The Washington Post once stated that "Seventh Avenue thought of Blass as the king of American fashion and his work has always been portrayed as quintessentially American". The dress is cut to supermodel length and the lines of it make it feel even longer. Everything about the cut is done to give the girl wearing it one long and beautiful silhouette. At the back the zipper is hidden along the offset side seam and there is a slit at the bottom part of that same seam that allow for just a touch of leg to show as you walk away. Its simplicity is part of its appeal and it looks amazing once on. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set zipper along the back, offset side seam. It comes with a matching cashmere scarf/shawl that is photoed separately. Very well made with hand finishes and ribbon edges inner seams. Tagged a vintage 12 and the fabric is slightly cut on the bias so it has a touch of give once on the body.
