1960s Courreges Haute Couture Suit
This very rare numbered couture label from Courreges and its absolutely stunning! The color is slightly deeper than what is showing and it a true beautiful navy. The fabric is that classic Courreges wool - it is a good weight and slightly textured. That slight texture and absolutely superb seaming are all that is needed to highlight the cut and signature chunky snap closures. The jacket is sublime - it curves in at the waist for a fitted but boxed silhouette. I love the seaming detail that runs down each short sleeve - for some reason it feels so special and really highlights the detailing put into this suit! The skirt is A-line and has a fantastic double row of snaps all the way to the waist which allows for a peep of leg on either side! Lovely, sharp piece and extremely collectible and rare! Excellent, museum quality condition!.
Shoulders: 12" across
Bust: 16.5" flat across the back from seam to seam
Waist: 14.5" flat across the back from seam to seam
Length: 18" from neck to hem
Waist: 12" flat across the back from seam to seam
Hips: 17" flat across the back from seam to seam Length: 22.5" from waist to hem
Note that is barely did up on my mannequin so on the right size girl it will of course sit better and properly. Both pieces are fully lined in cream silk. The jacket closes with signature painted snaps down the front. The skirt closes with the same snaps and opens on both side with one set of snaps permanently fastened - the third one down from the top on each side, and the last two on either side are both snap tops so do not fasten. In theory you can create as high a slit as you wish. There is a repair to the inside lining of the skirt at the back but of course it does not show when worn. The color its a true deep navy.
