1977 Dior Couture Red Jersey Dress

I acquired this dress a long time ago from the estate of a model who did a lot of work for Dior in the 1970s and was often paid in clothing. This was one of the Dior pieces but unfortunately somewhere along the way it lost it's Dior tag and only the hand written model tag remained in the interior. It absolutely had a tag when I acquired it and you can imagine the cursing I did when I pulled it and found the tag gone. I have had it tucked away until I happened to stumble across the photo included here from 1977. Who knows - that may even be the model. Even with this new information it is being included as a treasure item rather then a regular item because it is not perfect. It needs a small bit of TLC and a buyer who is buying or collector does not mind wearing something with some small flaws. It is lovely still and I hope it finds a new home.

The dress is made from a red silk jersey that has wonderful drape once on the body. The cut is loose and easy and this is a dress that you could belt and change the length of the skirt very easily. There is a soft panel of fabric across the neckline that gives it a touch of draping and the shorter sleeves are cut to drape softly. The skirt has a nice amount of fabric in it so swings and moves around you. A button back and the perfect red are the finishing details.

Unlined and closes with the buttons at the back. It has a numbered tag in the interior. Some of the button holes have stretched out and will need some stitches to make them secure again. There is a scattering of light marks across the front. and even lighter ones here and there on the skirt. A couple of lighter areas on the fabric on the back where the color has faded a touch. All these are apparent when laid out flat, but once on most disappear or are forgivable. Sold as found.
