Extraordinary 1940s Yellow Silk Satin Full Length Skirted Jacket

This is a wonderful and unique piece that is both beautiful in its own right and interesting. The styling possibilities of a piece like this seem endless once your mind starts to think of the spectrum of things you could do with this. It could top anything from jeans to a ball gown and all things in between. It has no labels but did come out of the estate of a very wealthy woman whose closets were filled with Dior and other top designers from this time period so I would not be surprised to learn that this was a piece form someone important. It is quite beautiful. The top part is cut to be fitted and buttons at the front with three silk covered buttons. It curves up towards the bust where it buttons. The sleeves have tremendous volume and are extremely full and dramatic. A half skirt that flows to the floor is attached along the back and this widens as it hits the floor. It trails behind and is quite full by the time it reaches the hem. The piece is not perfect but I feel its flaws are forgivable and it is still wearable. Please read the condition notes below and I will guarantee you will be happy with it in person.

Unlined and buttons at the front. Hand finishes through out and proper buttonholes. I see some light and very minor scuffing here and there but that is natural patina. There is some water staining along the hem and some light foxing here and there. I have photoed the worst parts. It is far more of a golden marigold color in person. It is photoed on a size 2 dressmakers form.
