It is a star even among the many outstanding dresses that Valentino has created over the years.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe Haute Couture version was first created to great fanfare in 1968-69. Then for the spring of 2001, the Valentino atelier released a limited edition collection of a re-edited copy of the dress. Finally Pierpalo did his version for the Pre-Fall 2022 collection.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThis version of the famous dragon dress softens the lines of the original couture one to make it a more easy to wear caftan feeling silhouette.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe description of the original dress in the book on Valentino's work sums it up perfectly and you can see the base of the modern elements in this one. \u003cem\u003e'Printed tunic dress with a yellow, green and red oriental dragon against a very dark background; it features a seamed bust line, a stopped neckline, long sleeves and a deep slit along the left hip.'\u003c\/em\u003e \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe dress is made out of a very light-in-weight black silk that has that wonderful dragon printed on its surface. The dragon curls around the body on the front of the dress with the back, upper bodice and sleeves left in a stark contrasting black.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe neck is notched and the shoulders are soft. Each sleeves is cut straight all the way down to the wrist.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIt is cut loose and easy all the way through the body flaring out slightly as it near the hem. This makes it extremely easy to fit and wear and the shape is what gives it it's nod to a caftan.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThere is a slit on each side seam that shows a flash of leg when you move, balancing out the coverage everywhere else. And it has pockets.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear with no closures. It's loose and easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes and frames. It will just drape more on a smaller frame.
