By 1956 he had moved to Paris and opened a couture atelier and in 1960s made his first official couture presentation. Ready-to-wear followed in 1970. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eHe won the Golden Thimble in 1978 and again in 1984.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe cardigan is made out of 100% wool and it is an absolutely beautiful Italian knit. The quality is so high in the knit and it is just lovely to see in person.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe knit has been done in a distinctive vertically set cable knit that combines long vertical rows with intersperses rows of a braided knit.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe shoulders are soft and the sleeves narrow slightly as they get to their ends.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe neckline is a slight scoop and it closes down the front with a row of ten gold toned metal buttons.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eFour more buttons define the little top set pockets that sit on the front. The two at the top are slightly smaller than the ones near to the bottom hem of the sweater.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe buttons are fantastic little jewelled pieces on their own. Each is engraved with the brand name and then has a raised crown at their centre. The ones that close the front are slightly larger than the four on the pockets.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eI love that the buttons have a slight patina to them. There is almost a tiny bit of a green cast to some here and there which perhaps suggests that they might have some brass or copper in the mix.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe sweater is fantastically chic and has a touch of that naval\/military feel to it. It is very easy to wear and is one of those things that you will only ever find in vintage.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan class=\"normaltext\"\u003eThe cardigan is unlined and closes down the front with teh series of buttons as described above.
