Gorgeous Mid 1990s Jacques Fath Metallic Silver Jacket w White Fox Cuffs

Jacques Fath showed his first collection of just twenty garments in the spring of 1937. It was well received and he steadily built a strong clientele to become of of the busiest ateliers in Paris. The Fath label was shuttered in 1957 after Fath's death three years earlier. In 1992 the label was revived for a short period of time  and Dutch designer Tom Van Lingen was charged with bringing the label back to life. He remained at the helm from 1992 to 1997. This jacket is from that time period and comes from the same woman whose estate I have sourced the other Fath pieces from. She loved extravagant pieces and this jacket is fabulous.

This is one one those magical pieces you will only ever find with vintage. The jacket is exceptional. It somehow combines the feel of a 19th century Dandy with a 1950s skater jacket and yet still brings in the 1990s. The fabric is the start point and it is gorgeous. It is a silver and white brocade that has a swirling design worked over its surface. The pattern on it is slightly raised so you get this incredible texture. The background is slightly darker silver grey shade and then there is a lighter brighter silver that outlines the design. This catches the light and gives the entire jacket a subtle shimmer. The cut of the jacket is incredible. It has shaped shoulders and long sleeves. It skims over the bodice and then comes in sharply at the waist. The skirt of the jacket flares out quite dramatically all around you and the front panels are cut on an angle and are set longer then the back length. The back has an additional pleat at the center for more volume. There is also an unexpected and dramatic cut out at the back. The sleeves are finished with a dramatic white fox cuff and little braided knots close the front. It is a beauty. Excellent condition with a note below

Fully lined in an ivory silk taffeta and closes at the front with a series of braided knots and loops. Pocket flaps are decorative only. There is discoloration to the inner lining under each arm. I see a couple of marks on the exterior. Please see the three photos after the label shot. Priced with these in mind. For those opposed to fur, the cuffs could be easily removed and replaced with a modern faux, feathers or the jacket could be worn without them as the sleeves are perfectly finished underneath.

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
