1960s Donald Brooks Couture Gown

A remarkable and couture level piece by Donald Brooks. The workmanship and fabrication of this gown is an absolute dream! The exterior is a rich and intricate combination of chenille cording coiled and hand stitched into place over a black lase base. With more depth then velvet, the chenille adds a fascinating contrast to the matteness of the lace. Over this, glossy black sequins are worked into the design so that the gown has a subtle glimmering quality, The bodice dips into a V with a weighted bit behind the base inside the lining to weight it perfectly. Each sleeve widens as it nears its hem and the ends are finished with a scalloped and a touch of metallic threading worked through the edge. This same scalloped metallic detailing finishes the neckline and hem as well A silk satin band defines the waist. The cut has a nod towards an empire silhouette and the skirt has a lovely full shape. Amazing! Item# DD823
