1950s Silk Satin Harvey Berin Dress
For some reason the silk satin produced in this time period seems to have an extra bit of richness to it. I don't know why but any vintage lover knows what I mean. The really high end silk satin like what this dress is constructed from seems to have a life of its own. From tip to bottom the silk has been meticulously placed and sewn to form this little black beauty. The bodice is sexy and gorgeous - it is cut to sit wide on the shoulders and one sides dips slightly to create a bit of an asymmetrical feel - it is subtle but has a bit of a vampy edge to it! A fitted inner bodice hugs the body so that the exterior sits perfectly in pace at all times. The skirt is wonderfully and just on the side of full without be too full. There is no way you will not feel 100% female in this dress and it would be suitable for an afternoon wedding as well as a cocktail dress. If you love it in the pictures you will be blown away when it arrives! Excellent condition.
Bust: 19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 22" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 16" from neck to natural waist
Skirt: 26" from waist to hem
Fully lined through the entire dress with a black silk organza that is cut to match each panel of the exterior fabric. There is an inner bodice built into the dress that closes separately with a series of hook & eye down the back. The exterior of the dress closes over this down the back with a painted metal zipper. Note that the measurements are based on the inner bodice - you could potentially remove this and gain at least an inch through the bust, perhaps more and a good 1/2" through the waist because of the way it sits inside. Note that it is a true deep black in person
