1960s Fred Perlberg Pink Silk Chiffon & Crystal Beaded Bodice Dress
The Fred Perlberg label launched in 1920. Perlberg was only 19 years old when he started the label and stayed on as the label's designer until 1968 when he retired. Upon retirement he handed over the reigns to Roger Millet who designed the label into the late seventies. This dress would be from the earlier part of the Millet ear, most likely the late 1960s or early 1970s.
The dress continues on Perlberg's legacy and is a great representation of what the label did so well. It made mid-priced party and dance dresses that followed the current trends. They were well made in small production runs and hold up well to the passing of time. This one is gorgeous with its bright pink silk chiffon skirt that have yards and yards of fabric in it and is set with two layers of chiffon over the innermost lining. When you move the silk will twirl around you beautifully. The waist is set high and begins just under the bust line. The bodice is gorgeous and is completely covered with a silver lace that then has looped beads, and silver sequins set onto it for a lovely bit of glamour and contrast to the pink. The bodice is cut with a modified sweetheart front and a low curved back. It is a lovely piece and the pink is even better on person. Excellent condition.
Fully lined through the skirt and main part of the bodice in a pink silk. The upper bodice and straps are lined in a nude netting. The dress closes with a back painted metal and a hook above that.
