1960s Emilio Pucci Iconic Butterfly Print Silk Dress
Whenever I find a piece that has the iconic Pucci butterfly print across its surface, I am always a little extra pleased because it is one of my favorites of all of his designs. The print is spectacular. It is bold and bright and classically Pucci. The colors are wonderful together - the base is a deep chartreuse - that color that sits perfectly between green and yellow. Screened over this is that beautiful butterfly print that is done primarily in a purple mixed with shots of other colors worked in. I love the strong use of a contrasting border that defines and anchors the waist and hem. The dress is made out of a light scarf weight silk that makes it very easy to wear and it feels lovely when on. It is cut straight and lean through the body with a gentle flaring as it nears the hem. This simple cut allows the dress to act like a canvas for that insanely beautiful print. The simple sleeveless bodice perfectly balances the length of the skirt. This is truly a fabulous example of the more sophisticated side of Pucci. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Fully lined in a neutral silk and closes at the back with a hand set, hidden set zipper. The fabric is signed throughout. I do see two tiny areas of storage spots on the front of the dress. These are both extremely minor. I attempted to photo both and those photos are included here. Tagged a Pucci size 8 but of course check the actual measurements listed. You could belt this for more definition through the waist.
