Early 1970s Pink Couture Hanae Mori Trained Gown

Heart breakingly simple and beautiful, this plate 1960s, early 1970s pink silk Hanae Mori gown is just an absolute work of art. It has her signature east meets west feel with its couture construction techniques and Japenese influenced design. She was the only Japanese woman haute couture designer to be admitted to La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and she infused her designs with this mix of elements. This gown is an absolute wonderful example of that. I love how the body of the gown is a simple sheath that belies its hidden construction underneath. The entire inner bodice is corseted and made to hug the wearer and hold the dress in place. Yet from the exterior you see not a ripple to the silk to give a hint of this. The pink is bold and the print is her trademark blossoms. The back is finished with a trail of silk chiffon screened in the same custom floral design and adds lightness and airiness to the structure of the gown's shape. Made for I Magnin and almost certainly a custom ordered piece. It is astonishingly beautiful and feels shockingly fresh and forward. Even more beautiful in person and the photos cannot convey the quality and feel of the high grade silk! Excellent condition

Fully lined in silk detailed with the Hanae Mori name. It has a fully built in corset that closes with its own independent zipper. A second zipper closes the exterior. The silk chiffon panel of fabric hides all of this and snaps into place with fabric covered snaps that are set inside and below the edge of the back seam. The corset is boned and has an inner waist stay. Hand finished throughout the interior and a weighted hem. Tagged a vintage 10
