1980s Silk Chiffon James Galanos Gown
This amazing couture creation from James Galanos done in the late 1970s-early 1980s combined silk and silk chiffon to create a stunning visual effect and play on the print. The startlingly vivid under skirt is done an a vibrant yellow and azure blue. Over this is a softer, more romantic and ethereal feeling silk chiffon in the same two colors but of softer hues and with a lighter airier feel. The cut is remarkable and dramatic. The silk chiffon of the bodice is gathered and set with a high neck and curved front seam. and each sleeve billows about a slim cuff. I love that the back is left open from nape to waist but the two layers of chiffon only allow this fact to be glimpsed upon certain movements so it is like a sexy secret. The skirt is cut in one long and lean swoop over which more silk chiffon is draped and hand placed for the maximum effect. Unbelievable! Excellent, seemingly unworn condition
