Prettiest 1960s Emilio Pucci Pale Pastel Curving Print Silk Jersey Dress w Contrasting Border
I Have a Question
Emilio Pucci is one of my favorite designers and every single dress is a work of art. His colours and prints are mixed with a masterful hand and when you get a good piece of Pucci it tends to be a piece that you can wear for a lifetime. This one is gorgeous with its pretty pastel colourway and print. I love it.
The dress is made out of one of his signature lightweight silk jerseys and this was a fabric that he preferred because of the way it moved and held colour. It is screened with one of his custom prints that he has laid out onto the fabric in a very deliberate way to highlight the cut and line of these dresses. This one is the prettiest combination of pale pastels that cover the dress from head to toe. The colours are all mixed into a curving print that is so pretty and fresh feeling. The sleeves are cut to just past the elbow. The bodice is cut to skim over the bust with a high scooped neckline. It falls past the waist to a band set at the top of the hips and this gives it an easy feel that I love. It skims past the hips and widens out to flare out a touch to the hem. The cut and fabric allow it to not be super fitted but still highlight the body underneath. The colour mix is gorgeous. Pale pastels are mixed perfectly to create the design that you see and if you love it in the photos it is even better in person. One of the signatures on his pieces are those bands of a contrasting print and on this dress he used that to define the neckline, waist, the cuffs and around the bottom hem. A double band of that print is also set to run down the full length of the back of the dress. The entire dress weighs ounces. Excellent condition with notes below
Unlined and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Tagged a vintage Pucci 10. The fabric is a silk jersey and does have some stretch. I have given the comfortable measurements laying flat. I see some tiny spots on this one here and there and a cluster of faint marks on the back shoulder. Please see the photos after the label shot. Hand finished throughout.

Gorgeous 1960s Emilio Pucci Brilliant Citrus Coloured Silk Jersey Dress w Huge Floral Print
I Have a Question
Emilio Pucci is one of my favorite designers and every single dress is a work of art. His colors and prints are mixed with a masterful hand and when you get a good piece of Pucci it tends to be a piece that you can wear for a lifetime. This one is particularly gorgeous with its bright floral pattern. I love it.
The dress is made out of one of his signature lightweight silk jerseys and this was a fabric that he preferred because of the way it moved and held colour. It is screened with one of his custom prints that he has laid out onto the fabric in a very deliberate way to highlight the cut and line of these dresses. Huge flowers cover the dress from head to toe in a bright combinations of colours. The sleeves are long and cuffed so that they pouf out slightly over the cuffs once on. The bodice is cut to skim over the bust with a high scooped neckline. It falls over the waist and hips in an easy way that lets it skim over you to the floor. The cut and fabric allow it to not be super fitted but still highlight the body underneath. The colour mix is gorgeous. The backdrop is a bright coral orange and then the floral pattern explodes off of that mixing yellow tones with pops of pink. The flowers cover the entire dress and I love the joyful feeling this creates. One of the signatures on his pieces are those bands of a contrasting print and on this dress he used that to define the neckline, the cuffs and around the bottom hem. victor costa
Prettiest 1970s Victor Costa Striped Waffle Weave Cotton Dress w Citrus Coloured Stripes & Full Skirt
I Have a Question
Victor Costa launched his label in 1974 and was known for producing versions of what was seen on the Paris runways. Costa chose good fabrics for his designs and even though his work was often very close interpretations of other designs, he did add his own unique twist when it came to colours, cut and fabrics. Some of his work is quite lovely and this dress is a really great one. I am in love with it!
This dress is so pretty and an easy dress to just pop on and walk out the door in. The cut is so flattering and it is incredibly easy to wear. It is made out of a soft cotton that has a bit of a waffle texture to it running through the coloured stripes. The print combines different widths of stripes and they mix soft pastel citrus colours with a deep blue. The stripes are set to follow and highlight the design of the dress. On the bodice you have a panel of them coming down and around the neckline and then wrapping around the waist. The rest of the bodice is set horizontally and then the fabric of the skirt is also set horizontally but because of all the gathering and tiers of the skirt it creates a completely different feel. It has a V neckline at the front and I love how the waist is set on a slight angle to take advantage of the striping pattern. Under that the skirt is full and falls to about ankle length depending on your height. It is made of three tiers of fabric and each one widens out as it hears the hem. There is a ton of fabric in it so when you move it moves beautifully around you. It is meant to be worn without a belt but you could easily cinch in the waist with a modern belt if you wanted to add more shape. Excellent condition.

christian dior
Gorgeous Spring 2020 Christian Dior Sunset Striped Cotton Dress w Silk Chiffon Under Slip
I Have a Question
A dress in a silk taffeta and a jumpsuit in this same fabric walked the runway for .the Spring 2020 show. This dress was made for the shops in that same stripe and when we looked for documentation on this one we also found a street style shot of Sharon Elongue wearing its twin. I love that we have that reference photo so that you can see how great it is on the body. Vogue's review said that said the collection was "Lovely, utterly lovely . . . gentle and shrewd and worthy of investment.... there were endless dresses—printed, appliquéd, embroidered, crystal-ed, filigreed—in which lace, raffia, jacquard, silk, and tulle were layered and interwoven to create thoroughly wonderful, artisanal items. The sustainability piece that Chiuri offers at Dior is precious handwork married to real design in ready-to-wear. These are buy-now-wear-forever dresses; they should take root in one’s closet and grow in emotional value over time." I absolutely love this dress. It is gorgeous.
I think this dress is the best version of the three pieces I have shown here and it is wonderfully easy to wear. When you add in that spectacular soft striped print that covers the entire dress it is just a joy. The dress is made from a fine and very light weight cotton that has a touch of transparency to it. This is then layered over an inner silk slip in a neutral nude colour. The lightness of the cotton is what lets it move so beautifully over the body once it is on. When you walk the fabric of the skirt catches the air and floats out around you. The entire dress has been finished to look like it was hand painted. The body of the dress is done in soft muted stripes that fade into each other where the edges meet. The colours are like a sunset and vary in warm beautiful tones to cover the entire dress. The neckline is notched at the front for a touch of skin to show and you can leave it open or tie it with the ties that extend out from the neckline. It skims over the bust to the waist. The seam at the waist is cut wide and generous so that the dress has an easy feel. The skirt falls from under there to the floor in a sweeping expanse of fabric to the floor. The skirt is cut beautifully and gradually widens out as it nears the hem. The sleeves are wonderful. Each is a different colour that picks up on the graduation of the colours in the dress and fall down the arm to a buttoned cuff. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition
The separate nude silk chiffon slip acts as the lining as the outer dress is not lined. The dress closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. The inner slip is tagged a 40.

yves saint laurent
Prettiest 1960s Yves Saint Laurent Stoffler Fabrics Yellow Brocade Dress w Clear Beads
I Have a Question
This dress is a fascinating little bit of the YSL history. In the late 1960s / early 1970s you could buy YSL Vogue patterns and YSL approved fabrics in fabric stores and at fabric counters in the US and make a dress from an approved pattern book. This pattern book was a guide that recommended which sewing patterns went with the approved fabrics. Stoffler was one of the fabric distributors for this project and this dress has the label showing that collaboration. So basically someone could buy a YSL Vogue Paris Original pattern and make the dress out of a YSL approved fabric and then add in YSL label that came with your purchase of the pattern and fabric. I love it.
The dress has that fabulous hostess feel of this era and it was obviously made with great care and love. The Stoffler fabric is a happy lemon yellow colour that has a secondary floral applique applied onto the base fabric. I love how this gives the fabric a bit of a 3D feel and adds texture and interest to the dress. The dress completely covers you and has a beautifully classic, feminine and elegant feel to it. The bodice skims over you to a slightly higher set waist. The sleeves are long with a braided detailing at the cuff that is covered with clear beads The neckline is high and detailed with more of those same beads and then more circle the seam at the waist. On all of the areas that the beads have been set they are tightly spaced directly next to each other. They lay slightly off the fabric so they have just a touch of movement to them. This adds a pretty sparkle to the upper part of the dress as the beads catch the light from every angle. From there the skirt falls to the floor and widens out as it nears the hem. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Unlined and closes at the back with a zipper. I see some missing beads here and there.

Look 47 Resort 2018 Christian Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri Silk Chiffon Runway Dress w Plunge
I Have a Question
I recently had this dress in the shop and I am very pleased to have found another so soon. The twin of this dress in a different colour walked the runway as Look 47 for the 2018 resort season. The show was held in the remote Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in Calabasas, California and Rihanna, Charlize Theron and Solange Knowles were there alongside the fashion pack. The inspiration for the show came from the archives and Chiuri said 'she went to the archives, where she came across the house founder’s Lascaux collection of 1951, inspired by the ancient cave paintings discovered in southwestern France a decade earlier.' The twin of it with the front tacked closed a bit was also worn by Kate Mara in 2017 which shows you how it looks when you do close the plunge a bit. It is also interesting because a very similar dress was shown for the Resort 2008 collection and you can see that progression from the Dior archives to this.
This is a dress that is insanely sexy and bare feeling. I love its bright joyful colour and minimal lines. The dress is a made out of a feather light silk chiffon that tops inner layers of silk tulle and silk. This fabric combination makes it very light and easy to wear and it feels like a dream once on the body. The lightness of it lets it move and float around you beautifully as you walk and move. The front plunges low to the seam at the slightly empire set to the waist. It crosses over itself a touch at the front and the seam under the bust is detailed with a tiny little romantic feeling ruffle. The shoulders twist as they curve over your shoulders and then they fall into a deep V at the back. The panels sit a wider apart where it meets the waist so you get a more open back feel. The sides are equally as dramatic as the plunge in long Vs to the waist. Under that the skirt flows to the floor and widens out as it nears the hem. There is a tremendous amount of fabric in the skirt and this lets the skirt billow out around you as you move. The top layer of the skirt is that silk chiffon that has that touch of texture to it. Then there are two layers of silk tulle under that and a final inner layer of silk that acts as the lining. The effect all of these layers have once it is on and moving around you is fantastic. I love having the reference photos so you can see how fabulous it is on the body. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition with a tiny note below
Lined as described above and closes with a back hidden set zipper. Tagged a FR42, UK14, IT46, US10. It appears that someone did tack this closed at the front at some point and there are a tiny couple of pinholes in the lining of the bust as a result. These do not show when on and are strong and stable.
Bust: no true side seams but each triangle will cover 7-9" across
Waist: 15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Innermost hips: to 24" flat across from side seam to side seam, the outer layers are full and open
Bodice: 14" from top of bodice to waist
Skirt: 44" from waist to hem

Minimalist 1970s Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Yellow Jersey Tank Dress w Three Tier Skirt
I Have a Question
This is a very chic 1970s Christian Dior dress from the Marc Bohan years. It is a wonderful example of the work being done during this time period. The dress perfectly shows the restraint that the label could have when it delved into minimalism. At the same time it is a definite statement piece with that bright shock of colour. The jersey makes it a very easy and comfortable dress to wear and don't let the simplicity of it fool you. This is a dream to wear and the simple lines are offset by the high quality silk jersey and the ease and beauty it has once on.
The dress is made from a silk jersey fabric that drapes beautifully over the body. Both the back and the front of the bodice has a scoop for a bit of skin to show. It is suspended from the shoulder by two skinny straps in the same fabric and skims over the bust. The waist is seamed and it is set slightly dropped for a long lean feel. I added a grosgrain ribbon tie belt in the same colour and you can use this to make the top blouse over more or wear it without the belt for a looser feel around the waist. The back drops just a touch lower that then front for a bare expanse of skin to show. It falls to the floor from there, skimming over the hips and then falls in a series of three tiers of jersey ruffles to the floor. These tiers give it the most incredible movement around you when you move. It is cut super model long and it is in its original length. This is a dress that you just slip on and it is perfect for day or evening. Excellent condition with a minor note below
Unlined and it closes with a hand set back zipper. The ribbon at the waist is not original to the dress but will be included. I see a minor repair / fraying at the base of the zipper and a pinhead size dot near the waist that is hidden when it blouses over. There are some minor marks and a couple of pinholes on the lowest tier that are covered by the tier above but mentioned for accuray. Please see the photos after the label shot. The colour is better in person

madame gres
1970s Madame Gres Haute Couture Wide Leg Pant Set w Metallic Gold Part Open Tie Top
I Have a Question
Madame Gres' work has had profound effects on Haute Couture and her influence still resonates to this day. Her attention to detail, master draping techniques and respect for the female form is unparalleled. She was known for designing and creating garments directly on her models and this became a signature of her work. She opened her first atelier, La Maison Alix in 1932. A partnership briefly changed the house's name to Alix Barton and then the label went to simply Alix. In 1942 she married, and the label made its last change to became Madame Gres, which was a partial anagram of Serge, her husband's first name. Her work spans over five full decades with the vast majority of it, with the exception of a short-lived RTW line begun in 1980, dedicated solely to creating Haute Couture. She is one of the greatest couturiers of our time and her pieces are very rare and hard to find. This set is from the early to mid-seventies and it is fabulous.
This is an amazing vintage set. I love the camel coloured wide legged jersey pants with their wide cut legs. The jersey they are made out of is the soft wool that she used extensively during this time period and it has a soft finish to it that looks and feels heavenly once on. The pants are banded at the top with a wide gathered sash of a pale yellow jersey for contrast to the camel colour below. This hooks to the one side and there is built-in boning at the sides to hold its shape around the waist. It is a touch wider on one side then the other to create a pretty curve. The pants fall to the floor and widen out to be 64" around at each hem. The top has a metallic finish to it and the contrast between the two fabrics is fantastic. The silk has actual metal thread woven through it and this gives it a subtle glint from all angles. A design runs through the silk and the metal thread is woven onto that in a floral design The neckline is scooped and it skims over you to the waist. The sleeves are long and simple. It ties into place at the back with ties made of the same fabric. These sit on an angle that starts at the neckline, run across to one side and then go straight down to the hem of the top. This leaves a little bare expanse of skin showing between the ties. I photoed the top un-tucked and tucked as it can be worn either way. Both pieces have a Haute Couture label in them and the top has an additional handwritten numbered tag inside. This is an incredible and rare opportunity to own a beautiful piece of her work and it is that much more versatile with the two pieces since you can mix and match with pieces from your exiting wardrobe. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Both pieces are unlined and have been completely finished by hand. The pants close with hook and eye at the band and a zipper under that. There's a small repair to the jersey inside the inner structure of the band and then one of the fold along one side. Neither is seen once on. The top ties to close at the back.

alexander mcqueen
Spring 2009 Alexander McQueen Runway 'Natural Dis-tinctions, Un-Natural Selection' Crystal Print Dress
I Have a Question
The program notes told the audience of the Spring 2009 runway show that Mcqueen had been thinking of Charles Darwin's theory of the survival of the fittest and 'the deleterious results of industrialization on the natural world'. The show was title 'Natural Dis-tinctions, Un-Natural Selection' and the McQueen book notes that 'the cat walk was filled with antique taxidermy, including an elephant giraffe tagger zebra and polar bear, in an art space that was formally of Paris morgue.' The twin of the dress was a part of the second portion of the show that was meant to 'continue to draw inspiration from natural forms, flowers, crystals and minerals, but here they were engineer with a hard as an enhanced to convey the synthetic qualities associated with modernity and human touch. Prints were angular and invoked crushed crystal, metallic structures such as the Eiffel tower and a granite mountain that was borrowed from a Dan Holdsworth triptych.' This collection was noted as being one of his most commercial to date during this time period and these print pieces especially had instant appeal.
This is a very recognizable Alexander McQueen piece. While there may be many of his pieces out there that only die-hard collectors would know at first glance, this is one of the dresses that has that wonderful print that you instantly can identify as being a McQueen. The colour is amazing. This dress sold out world wide when it was produced and there are very few out there. The fabric is almost like a neoprene in the way it looks and feels and yet it is not a true neoprene. It is lighter and thinner with just enough weight to it to hold the shape that he wanted but without it feeling restrictive on the body. The shape is built into the dress beginning at the shoulders which are padded so that they sit up on top of the shoulders. It skims over the bust, nips in at the waist and then curves out at the hips. The shoulders and hips balance each other out and even when laying flat you can see the shape built into the dress. At the neckline there is a keyhole that has a nude netting in behind it. This adds to the unique feel of the dress. I love the way that the seams at the hip curve in and over the waist to just under the bust. This precise seaming and cut are all done to give that exact distinct shape that he wished the piece to have. When styled on the runway with the plastered hair around the face it had an almost alien feel to it that was unbelievably fantastic. This was one of the lauded crystal prints from the collection and it is just spectacular. The dress looks to have never been worn and is in mint condition. It is an extraordinary piece of Alexander McQueen history and having a runaway pieces from him in the shop are always an exceptional thing. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a ivory tissue silk and it closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. Tagged a McQueen 38. It appears to have been worn very little little bit

Exceptional Spring 2003 Gucci by Tom Ford Rare Runway Pale Yellow Feather Mini Dress
I Have a Question
The Vogue review of the Spring 2003 show was done at the height of Ford's vision for Gucci and he could do no wrong in their eyes. The review said 'The Gucci girl’s got legs—long, tan, flawless ones striding along on silver peep-toe sling-back pumps. Follow them all the way up, and around two weeks later, they eventually meet the hem of the minutest piece of clothing that was ever called a skirt or dress. For spring, in a word, Tom Ford says short. Using lustrous fabrics in subtle makeup colors from blush to tawny brown, pearly gray and silver, Ford draped and wrapped his gorgeous girls in clothes that navigated that dangerous Gucci line between innovation and vulgarity. The tousled hair, the jackets and tops poised to fall off shoulders—the whole presentation stirred sensations that fashion hasn’t felt since the last days of the great supermodels. Still, don’t think tacky. Ford’s obsession now is integrating fine workmanship into abbreviated silhouettes." The feather dresses were mentioned specifically; "He brought couture finesse to racer-back feathered dresses with the merest flip of a skirt....it was a confident statement in the power of glamour. And fashion needs that.' To this day this is one of the most recognizable and desirable of his shows to find and collect pieces from. This is the twin of Look 27 from the runway and it is an exceptional piece of Gucci History. It was also featured in Vogue that season on Natalia Vodianova
When researching this look I came across a few references that declared this dress one of the top ten Gucci Tom Ford pieces. While you often see the other version of this dress in a brown and white feather, this pale yellow version that is the twin of the runway dress shown is a true rarity. One of the things that makes this dress exceptional is that it is true to the runway. It is also entirely original and according to the former stylist that it cane from was never worn. The dress is meant to be worn very short and daring. Once on you just see miles of legs topped by this extraordinary piece. The top plunges low at the front and the back curves in to create a sexy racer-back. It skims over the waist and hips and then flares out at the skirt. The skirt is actually two tiers of feather detailed ruffles and this extra little flounce gives it movement when you move. The body of the dress is made from two layers of virtually weightless silk with a silk grosgrain ribbon edging and detailing the lines of the design. It has an almost twenties feel to it and it is fantastic. The feathers are a mix of a dyed soft pale yellow mixed with some soft light taupe natural feathers for depth and interest. I took a photo of the back of the silk of the skirt and you can see that each feather was hand applied and fused into place onto the silk. Hence the couture reference in the Vogue review above. It snaps to close under the ribbon at the side so there is no break anywhere with a zipper. It just looks like it somehow magically formed around you. It is an incredible piece of the Tom Ford history with the brand and is one of the most recognizable pieces from his tenure with the label. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a pale taupe nude silk chiffon and has hidden set snaps at the side to close. Tagged a YSL 42. Some of the ends of the feathers have separated a bit on the natural spots it curves but this is just part of aging for a piece like this. I don't consider this a flaw but its mentioned for accuracy.
