1970s Lanvin Numbered Haute Couture Hand Woven Knit Embroidery Skirt

This Lanvin skirt is utterly fantastic and so unusual in its fabric choice. I am in absolute love with it. From the bold colours that have been used in its design, to the way the  the fabric has been created and to the the workmanship put into its construction. Everything about it is perfection. It is really a once in a lifetime find and I wish I knew more about the fabric's origins to share with you. The fabric is a light fine yarn and wool mix. It is hand woven in vertical lines that have little horizontal threads set in rows to keep the shape and stability of the fabric. The colors of the base range from a fiery red to deep oranges, purples and blacks. Over this are zig zag rows of different colored threads that change as they go. The effect is brilliant once it is all together. The beauty of the color combination is equaled by the fine workmanship that has gone into constructing it. The waist band is made of a different wooden weave and it cinches in the waist. It has belt loops for the addition of a belt. Big flat pleats run around the waist and these help give the skirt some volume and shape. The inner silk skirt is finished with a band of green felt and this adds just a touch of weight so that it falls perfectly. It is really a work of art and the numbered couture tag makes it that much more special. Excellent condition.

Fully lined with an inner skirt made of black silk and edged in green felt. It closes with a back zipper and button plus a flat hook and eye at the waist band. Pockets on each hip.  Numbered 03039 on the tag. Couture level finishes throughout.
