Carrie Fisher was so much more than an actress. In the hours following the announcement of her death, friends and fans remember the star as a brilliant writer and staunch mental health advocate. But in the footage from Fisher's Star Wars audition making the rounds on the Internet this afternoon, we see the intensity and charm that made the galaxy fall in love with her in the first place.

The three-and-a-half-minute clip shows Fisher auditioning for the role of Princess Leia. Staged opposite Harrison Ford (who had yet to be cast as Han Solo—he was simply helping director George Lucas with the movie's auditions), Fisher is riveting as she implores Ford's Han to help her transport the Death Star's plans. Their chemistry is magnetic from the start.

Fisher most recently appeared onscreen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and had completed filming Star Wars: Episode VIII in July. Her likeness was digitally added to the final scene of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which hit theaters on December 16.
