As a stylist, my favourite time a year is going through the season’s trends. It really reinvigorates the sartorial part of my brain & inspires me to head straight to my closet to start pulling pieces with a fresh eye.

Because I love our Curated readers so dearly, I thought I would compile a list of my favourite Autumn/Winter trends and how to inject them into your wardrobe.

#1: The Floor-Length Coat

Thanks to Calvin Klein & Chanel, this season’s coat has soared to new heights. Incredibly chic, dramatic, & so flattering.

MY PICK: Anne Klein’s Dusty Rose Floor Length Coat
It’s the perfect transitional coat from day to evening and allows a lot of layers & lengths play. Definitely a trend worth investing in!

#2: The Shag

From bold colours to Penny Lane hues, statement shearling ruled the runways. The luxe-cover up is a great addition to your wardrobe because it really elevates basics.

MY PICK: 1970s Shaggy Sheepskin & Leather Shearling Jacket
For an understated look– pair with Frame Denim’s Le Slim cropped straight leg, Topshop’s graphic Shell Turtleneck and Miu Miu’s Buckled patent-leather ankle boots

#3: The Bold Print

Stark, graphic, optical illusions splashed across the collections, like Jonathan Saunders, Dior and my personal favourite, Pucci. With retro colour blocking ranging from the geometric to the psychedelic, this trend is definitely something you want to interject during the gloomy months ahead.

MY PICK: 1960s Rare Jean Patou’s Skirt & Top Set
Be bold & pair with New Look’s Over the knee boot in Deep Red.

#4 The Return of Velvet

This season luxurious velvet has been re-designed in a very fresh way. Mixed with sensual sheer and decadent embellishments, incorporating velvet into your wardrobe will be the perfect holiday addition.

MY PICK: 1980s Purple Velvet Chanel Cigarette Pants
Pair with Muveil’s Polka Dot Satin Blouse, tucked in for a chic, finished look. Add a feminine lace-up boot like Aldo’s Eraede.

#5: The Folk Artist

The 70s have returned for another season with more of a folkier interpretation. Piled on prints, fringe and yes, even ponchos – AW15 is all about loose, long & lightweight with texture & lots of layering.

MY PICK: 1970s Sexy Valentino Silk Dot Backless Gown
Throw on a cool Zara Short textured Jacket, with matching Zara Leather Ankle boots with Heel Detail.
