Once in a while a girl wears an outfit to New York Fashion week that makes such a statement that it literally gets photoed by everyone and seems to be everywhere. This year it seems to be Samantha and she was wearing vintage Donald Brooks that she bought at Shrimpton Couture!

Samantha is the girl behind the blog The Eye Travels and when she contacted me in the summer about this outfit we both knew then that this was one destined for NYFW. There was a little bit of a creative eye that had to be employed to get this wearable - the top was a simple bibbed affair and was definitely not wearable on its own as is - Samantha neatly solved this problem by a little put of the box thinking:

"When thinking of how I would style this piece I came up with a little DIY project—went to the garment district and searched for velvet ribbon with a bit of elasticity. I envisioned wrapping my upper body in the ribbon to give it an updated modern edge and did the same around my legs. I love this idea, it’s so simple and makes quite an impact. The associates at M&J Trimmings thought I was a bit crazy, “You want to wrap this around yourself like a mummy?” To which I replied, “Yes, that’s correct.” Proof that when you have a vision or idea you have make it happen."

I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I was to see this pop up place after place and on blog after blog. I think Samantha is one of those girls that you will soon see as a regular street style star and don't be surprised if she is wearing Shrimpton Couture vintage here and there!
