Famous for her dramatic front row style, this editorial from 1992 by fashion editor Anna Dello Russo reveals how her love of theatre and costume has always been part of her life and work. Using the Empress Elisabeth of Austria (known as 'Sissi') and the film about her (Sissi, made in 1955 with a young Romy Schneider as the lead) as the inspiration, Dello Russo recreated Kate Moss into the nineteenth century royal using an impeccable mix of Italian and French designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Prada and Alberta Ferretti. Irresistibly early 90s in the details (a sunflower, chokers), it is a riotous take on historicism in fashion.
