In a stunning portrayal of some of the most important pieces from McQueen's archives, Tim Walker brings the designer's artistry to life in the March issue of British Vogue.
The exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty was a record-breaking success when it debuted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Four years later the V&A Museum is bringing the same exhibition to McQueen’s home town in a tribute to one of the world's greatest designers. To announce the event to the public, Vogue UK teamed up with photographer Tim Walker to create this amazing editorial shared here, that features archival McQueen on some of the hottest models of today.
The editorials title “Dark Angel” is a tribute to the F/W 2010 collection, ‘Angels and Demons.’ That collection showcased McQueen’s search for the relationship between dark and light, ugly and beautiful & good and evil and in the hands of Tim Walker takes on yet another dimensions and is the perfect homage.
Tickets to the exhibit are already selling with thousands sold already & the V&A has already extended the exhibition for 2 more weeks, so it looks like the success at The Met will be carried overseas. I was crushed to have just missed it by a couple of weeks when I was in London recently but hopefully will be back before it leaves.
In the meantime drool over the images here and find a copy of the magazine so you can really see the images up close.
