* Book alert! Dior is a never ending source for inspiration and beauty and we are all over this new book entitled, Dior 1952-1962 that features a collection of the lavish and iconic gowns of Christian Dior, from the 1950s and ’60s, captured by the legendary photographer Mark Shaw. You got us at Dior.

* Even Marilyn went under the knife and this guy has the actual proof in the form of Xrays and medical records. We are not sure if that makes us feel immensely better or immensely worse. Are there not real beauties out there old or new? And does it matter?

* Another book alert! Colin MacDowell has a new book out called the Anatomy of Fashion. The excerpt says "Fashion is about the body. The first book to reflect this truism, The Anatomy of Fashion is the ultimate guide to how we dress, why we look the way we do and how this has changed over time. " The Daily Beast has pictures.

* Giancarlo Giammetti, long term business partner of Valentino is an endless source of antidotes since the publication of his new book "Private" . One of our favorites: When Giancarlo Giammetti first met Jerry Hall, the supermodel told him that she was a cowgirl. However, to Giancarlo’s ear, her Texan twang made it sound like she said “call girl.” “I was really shocked…So I very shyly ask whether she arranged to meet her clients by phone or in person. She say, ‘What clients?’ I say, ‘You say you are a call girl.’ And she say, ‘No, no, no! I am a cowgirl!’ We became great friends.”
