When Audrey Hepburn portrayed Holly Golightly in the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, based on the novel by Truman Capote she solidified her status as a style icon. The screenplay adaptation was different from the book in many ways. The greatest difference being that the book was set in the 1940s, while the film took place in the 1960s. It’s rumored that Capote had his friend Marilyn Monroe in mind for the part of Holly and was at first, not confident in the casting of Hepburn in the role. Over the past five decades, the film has inspired generation after generation. The costumes, designed by Hubert de Givenchy made the little black dress even more of a wardrobe staple. It’s reported that after the film was released, animal shelters experienced a high volume of requests for orange tabbies just like Holly’s cat, drolly name Cat. I, like so many, have always been inspired by the understated elegance depicted in the film and from a very young age coveted the stylish updo Hepburn sports throughout the film. Today, I show how to easily accomplish the elegant hairstyle. Recreating a look inspired by Holly Golightly is sure to brighten up any day. Watch the video and try it out for yourself!
