Sublime 1920s Silk & Lame Flapper Dress
Exquisite and exceptional 1920s dress is a remarkable example of the decadence and high end textiles being produced in this time period. The fabric is a mix of silk chiffon that house extended ovals of real metallic thread gold lame worked into the fabric. A wide sash of that same gold lame rings the waist. The silk underlying the lame is the prettiest bands of pastels stacked upon each other in rows - a pale pink, soft yellow, teal hued aqua and a nude are beautifully contrasted by the gold. The waist is caught up in gathers at one side and pannier like extensions sit on either side of the skirt giving it lots of movement when you move. The dress can be worn with either the square neck or the rounded one at the front - both sides are finished to equal measures. There are no closures - you just slip it over an under dress and go. Strong and wearable with the care and love it deserves to be shown - this is one of the best 1920s pieces I have ever seen and I would not be surprised to learn that it was a couture piece form one of the Paris houses at the time - it is of that high quality and the fabric would have been customs designed and made. Museum quality and exceptional.

The fabric is unlined and slips over the head to wear. There is perhaps a slightest darkening here and there to the lame - there is a small portion of the skirt that feels a little darker when looked at flat but when it presents as exceptional. It would not fit on my size 6 judy so was photoed flat - there is no side opening so you have to be a good inch or two smaller then the listed measurements to be able to get it on. For a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition.
Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. - items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
