Early 1950s Peppermint Stripe Silk Dress

A gorgeous little early fifties piece made of a black silk taffeta. The skirt is wonderfully fully and set into the waistline by a series of flat, precise knife pleats on either side of the front with the very center left unpleated and the back left unpleated as well. This allows for fullness of the skirt but a nice trim silhouette for the wearer. The bodice is constructed with as little seaming as possible and the sleeves left shorter and wide. The true beauty of this piece is of course that darling inset peppermint striped front with its charming Peter pan collar and bright pop of color against the black! Excellent condition

Bust: 19" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Hips: open
Bodice: 16" from shoulder to waist
Skirt: 31" from waist to to bottom hem
Sleeves: approx 14" from shoulder to hen

The dress is unlined and closes at the back with a painted metal zipper. It has been styled over a crinoline that is not included. It can be worn without one as well.

  • payment two of the remaining balance will be billed two weeks from the date of the initial deposit.
  • The final payment is due two weeks after the second payment and shipping will be billed on this invoice as well.
  • items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
