c1967 Numbered Couture Andre Courreges Suit

This beautiful, sculptural, numbered couture suit by Andre Courreges and it is absolutely stunning! The fabric is that classic Courreges wool - it is a good light, wearable weight and slightly textured. That slight texture and absolutely superb seaming are sublime and give the suit a rich, luxurious feel. Each curved seam and the soft but sculptural cut create a beautiful line. The tunic is sublime - it curves in at the waist with a flared hip. Half belt detailing sit on either side of the waist anchored by large gold tone buttons. Each button hole is completely functional and finished to couture standards despite them being only decorative. . I love the curved seaming detail that runs around the neck and it acts as the perfect contrast the wide set V of the neck. The pants are are cut with a chic flare and they are very well made. They have a crisp fold down the center and a heavy seam runs down each leg - like a subtle nod to a tuxedo pant. Very chic and couture. Extremely collectible and rare. Excellent, museum quality condition.

Both pieces are fully lined in cream silk. The tunic closes with a hand set, hidden set metal zipper. The pants close with zipper and two large silver hook and eye at the waist. Hand finished throughout. The color is a slightly deeper cream than what is showing (the best example is the label pic for color). Numbered and tagged a Courreges size A. I have dated it based on cross reference of the label with pieces from The Met's collection
