1950s Rich Gold Thread Silk Brocade "New Look" Coat
The fabric on this coat is amazing. The gold thread used is a real metallic thread and it is woven through the black base with different weaves to create the most wonderful effect and allow the rose pattern to feel like it is raised off the fabric. The thread used gives the exterior the feel of those real lame dresses from the twenties and this is obviously a high end fabric. Everything about this coat screams high end designer but sadly it was found without any labels at all so I think the girl that snatches it up is really getting a bargain. The cut is very structural with the Dior 'New Look" feel. I love the huge shawl collar and nipped in waist. Below this the skirt flares out dramatically with the volume required to top the full skirted cocktail dresses of this era. The fabric is a good solid weight - not so heavy that it is unwieldy to wear, but enough of a weight that when it is on the body, the shape you see is held perfectly. Each sleeve is cut on the wider side and it wraps and closes across the front. It is just spectacular and the simplicity of the cut only further highlights the drama of that rich, bold fabric. Even better in person. Excellent condition.
Note that this does come with a belt - when we received the coat the buckle was broken and photoed it without in case it was not fixable - but we have had it repaired and its is as good as new. We have added a photo and it will ship with the coat when purchased.
Intricately inter-lined in black silk and it closes with hidden fabric covered snaps at the front. The very occasional broken metal thread (the worst of which I photoed) but this is extremely minor and does not detract or mar the wearabilty.

- The final payment is due two weeks after the second payment and shipping will be billed on this invoice as well.
- items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
