1930s Silk Taffeta Bias Cut Gown

Absolutely stunning silk taffeta (but so lightweight - I suspect it has a shot of silky rayon mixed in for a bit of fluidity) that has the most beautiful washed floral design hand screened in soft feminine pinks, lavenders and just a touch of green. It is a masterpiece of seaming - its literally pieced together, with each piece that creates movement cut on the bias. Literally a marvel of design! The more you realize how many individual panels are used to create what at first glance is one column is incredible. The back is genius, a low V and fabric that has been gathered to create a soft draped almost bustle like detail at the back. All the edges are piped in a matching fabric. It is truly a beautiful piece and one of my personal favorites. Excellent condition.

  • items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
