1920s Silver Fringe Beaded Flapper Dress

The color of this dress is outstanding - it is a perfect shade of peach-pink-coral in a silk crepe - super vibrant and yet soft and feminine at the same time ! A dress is beaded from top to bottom in elaborate combinations of white glass beads, small clear seed beads and the geometric zig zags created with silver tube beads. The skirt is remarkable - it is entirely covered all the way around with attached rows of dangling fringe. What is remarkable is that each fringe is entirely made of silver strung beads! These add tremendous movement and glitz to the piece and the one element you aren't getting in the pictures is the movement this piece has when worn - its astonishingly beautiful. Little prong set rhinestones ring the arms and collar and are scattered through the lower half of the dress and in and around the fringing. It makes me happy just to look at it. The dress is in excellent, wearable condition with proper care and the love it deserves. It is not just a dress but a work of art and the pictures do not come close to doing it justice - if you even remotely fell in love with it - you will faint from happiness to see it in real life. There are no closures - you just slip it on and go. This is really a remarkable twenties textile. The level of work in this piece would only be found in the highest couture of today! Museum quality.

Bust: 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 16"
flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 17"
flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 35" from shoulder to bottom hem, with the fringe extending a further 2"

The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. Remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note other then natural patina. There is perhaps the occasional bead or rhinestone missing but for a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition. Very heavy - probably 3 or 4 lbs.

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.
