1940s Crepe Swing Dress

1940s Crepe Swing Dress

Dresses from the 1940s are not only getting harder to find, but pretty every day ones like this - in silk crepe  - are almost an impossibility to come across. It truly is a year-round dress. The red is very subtle and has a more cherry color then pictured, and I love the little lace floral accents strewn across the bodice. It has classic 1940s styling with a swingy skirt and slightly fuller waist to allow for the perfect drape. This lovely example of that era comes complete with it's original belt and all it rhinestone centered buttons too!

Shoulders: 15.5" across
Bodice: 19-20" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 16" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Hips: free
Bodice length: 15" fromshoulder to hem
Skirt length: 25" from waist seam to bottom hem

The bodice is fairly roomy but is meant to drape as shown. It has a slight patina of age normal for a dress that was worn but well cared for in this era. There are no major flaws. Swing dresses were not meant to be worn skin tight. It is unlined and closes with a metal zipper at the side. It should be dry cleaned when cleaned in the future.
