Exceptional Antique Hand Embroidered Coat or Gown

This is a remarkable coat or full length dress, that was constructed with a level of hand work that is harder and harder to find. The collector or museum will instantly recognize how fine a piece this is and how remarkable the work done  on it. The photos do not come close to doing it justice. It is entirely done by hand with a beautiful crewel embroidery technique. Despite its age the colors are still fresh and vibrant. This is a garment that was carefully stored and taken care of. The cut has a high neckline and is trained at the back. The design work is exceptional - dense embroidery work form beautiful bouquets that splay around the hem, cover the back and run down each sleeve. The edges are bordered with a dense panel of flowers and leaves and the long tie belt is also completely covered with hand done embroidery. The base is a fine and light, black wool and I love the sweeping cut of the lower portion. Every detail is perfect down to the floral embroidered buttons. You can wear this as a spectacular evening coat, a gown or keep it as a boudoir piece. It is exquisite and a testament to the great craftsmanship and highly skilled technique that is rapidly being lost. A true collectors piece, very rare and very wonderful. On the interior hem it is embroidered as being piece 7 of 14. Excellent condition

Fully lined in black silk and closes with those amazing buttons at the front. All hand done. It is in what I would consider excellent condition with no major flaws to note and appears to have been worn very little, if it all. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect (though this is close). The fit is somewhat variable depending on how you want it to look.

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
