Antique 19th Century Exceptional Russian Metallic Brocade Coat

This is one of the most beautiful antique coats I have ever had in the shop. It is made from a beautiful Russian metallic brocade with a bright contrasting cotton lining. Both fabrics inside and out are extraordinary. The exterior fabric is a real metal thread woven through a royal purple velvet. Throughout the design are pops of pink, green and yellow thread that is extraordinary and the final effect wonderful. Inside it an antique cotton in a brilliant red and yellow pattern. You could almost wear  this inside out it is so wonderfully made and the colors on it are just absolutely fantastic. The cut is equally as wonderful and it has that military great coat feel to it. The upper body and shoulders are cut narrow and fitted and then the skirt of the coat has a lot of volume and shape. The fabric choice holds this shape when on and it feels structured and fitted on the body. Absolutely wonderful. Truly a one of a kind, wonderful piece. This has been de-accessioned from the FIT museum and still retains the sewn-in museum tag identifying and dating it.  Excellent condition with normal wear to a period piece of this age.

Fully lined in red and yellow printed cottpon as seen with no front closures. Some slight fraying and wear to the top nap of the velvet here and there - I have photoed the worst on the shoulders. I see some minor staining inside the coat by the side inner hem - it doe snot show when on or go through to the outer layer. Note that it is cut smallest across the back (17" flat across). If you are small across the back and a MED you would most likely fit this since it has not front closures.

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
