Rare 1970s Silk Grecian Jacqueline de Ribes Gown

This de Ribes gown is just a masterpiece and is a rarity as well. For me this is the perfect example of her work and one of the best pieces I have seen come to market in recent memory. This is mainly due to that superb cut that has a Halston vibe to it. It is not only one shoulder but it is a masterful feat in both cut and drape. It is entirely suspended by one hook at the shoulder. There is an interior bias cut dress that is cut along an angle on its hem. This inner dress is made of two layers of silk chiffon with a wide slit traveling up on side. Over this is another double layer of silk suspended from the top edge of the gown and then over this is a third double layer of silk that is only partially attached at the top edge of the dress, This then drapes over the shoulder and hooks into place to cascade down and over the inner layers for the ultimate Grecian Goddess feel. I have shown you how it looks with this top panel styled over both the front and the back - it really can be worn either way. It is just incredible and for me feels like the type of dress that Countess Jacqueline would have worn herself. Museum quality and really an exquisite gown. Excellent condition.

Constructed in bias cut layers as described above. Slips on and has a hook at the top of the shoulder. Hand finished.

Bust: bias cut so 15-19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 18-21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 57" from top of shoulder to longest point of hem, the draped panel is a few inches longer than that
