1960s Strapless Ruffled Silk Organza Sarmi Dress
I love this dress with its explosion of ruffles and feeling of airiness. It feels like it just floats around you once on. The gown is a silk organza in a fabulous red. The fabric has a touch of a wavy ribbed texture to it making it very interesting. The bodice is strapless and the waist accented with a matching fabric that warps around and hooks under the bow at the front middle. The skirt is set just under the bust and gently widens to a beautiful airy fullness that the fabric choice assists with. It is very light and airy feeling when on but has a strong boned foundation inside the bodice especially. I love the cascade of ruffles down the front that goes down both sides and around the hem. The matching shawl is also finished with ruffles for the perfect balance. Excellent condition.
Fully lined with red tissue silk in the skirt (the hip measurement is taken of the skirt - the outer silk layers are very open over this) and silk with an inner lining of cotton net in the bodice. It closes with a back, hand set painted metal zipper. and the waist tie hooks under the front bow. Hand finished and fully boned inner bodice.
