Wonderful 1960s Jean Louis Pink Floral Silk Chiffon Gown
Jean Louis is the designer who created that dress that Marilyn Monroe was said to have been sewn into when she sang Happy Birthday to JFK. He worked in the movies before starting his own label and you can easily see the wonderful lines and attention to detail that those years of heading a costume department added to his talent. It is pretty and romantic but with string design details that still make it a statement piece. Everything about it feels high end and special and will make you feel like you are floating into a room in a cloud of pretty flowers. It is cut with a strong nod to those dramatic gowns of the 1930s and 40s with its pretty sleeves and full skirt. The bodice is fitted with an almost cape-like chiffon overlay. The neckline is cut to sit on the very outer edge of the shoulders for a touch of sexiness. Below this the waist nips in above the full skirt that flows in a column of chiffon to the floor. It is gorgeous and impeccably made. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a pink silk crepe with an additional layer of silk organza that backs the more full outer layer in the skirt. Closes with a hand set, back painted metal zipper and has a waist stay that closes with flat hook & eye. hand finishes.
