1950s Philip Hulitar Strapless Silk Gown
This gown and matching stole is absolutely incredible and so very rare. It really is one of the most phenomenal gowns I have ever had and it is made even better with it's highly desirable label! The fabric is exquisite - a fine silk chiffon with bright pink and coral flowers custom screened onto its surface. The bodice is a masterpiece of flat hand placed pleat-work with a silk satin bow giving a pop of color at the waist. The dramatic stole cut to sit perfectly over the dress picks up the bow as it is made of the same fabric. I love that it is left open down the front and below that wonderful fringed effect back so that the gown under it is not completely hidden. The skirt is cut long and lean with weighted discs set inside the back hem to hold it in p;ace. The bodice has a full built in corset that is lightly boned, All the draping and pleating to form this highly sculptural, yet strikingly feminine gown are all hand stitched into place. Excellent condition and a rare museum worthy piece.
Fully lined in the same shade of green tissue silk. The bodice has a full built in, boned corset. The hem has weights ion the back so that is stays perfectly in place. It closes with a back, hand-set painted metal zipper. The matching stole is made of a pink silk satin that matches the bow on the waist of the gown. It is unlined and in excellent condition
