I Dream of McQueen

Sometimes in life we have these little distinct moments that stand out in our memory as what would be the catalyst in sparking a critical change in our lives. To me it was during a particularly uninspired & directionless time in my early 20s. I took myself to my local bookstore & perused the magazine aisle, hungry for some sort of creative influence. I came across i-D Magazine for the very first time, specifically the ‘Best of British’ Collectors issue. I distinctly remember being awestruck by an editorial featuring McQueen pieces and then running home & Googling everything about him. My Google search lead me to the University of Arts London, where he attended Central St Martins & where I later attended the London College of Fashion.

His influence on me was profound & literally life changing.

Thanks to Shrimpton Couture I was able to revisit that experience by capturing the romantic elegance of McQueen’s SS 2002 ‘Dance of the Twisted Bull’ gown. It’s so feminine & theatrical – in the sexiest way. And I can’t forget to mention this is 1 of 20 in the WORLD that has ever been made. Definitely a must have!
