Autumn is definitely here, which has left me frantically trying to adjust my day-to-day wardrobe to the cooler temperatures. Even though I love the vintage coats I've been wearing for the last few years (which are mostly mid-60s A-line, princess-seam beauties) I've been feeling the need to acquire a coat that is distinctly different and new (for me)—maybe its heartbreak or maybe I'm just ready to "dress for success". This 1982 Vogue editorial focuses primarily on coats—and they are a total dream. "Oversized" is definitely the key descriptor here, but also "chic" and "classic" come to mind. It could be that Kim Alexis can't look bad in anything, but suddenly I'm craving a long menswear-inspired 80s coat... Add in the leather pointy-toe boots, big sunglasses and tie-neck blouses, and I am totally ready to start over for fall as a working woman...
